Soap Makers Help!

I'm still trying to pick out fragrances. What is your favorite citrus EO or FO?

I really like Lemongrass EO. Smells great at .5 oz ppo, soaps easy, and is economical.

Sweet orange is nice, I have some, and really cheap, but does not stick in CP soap. you have to use an anchor like patchouli or litsea.

Lemon Verbena by Brambleberry is very nice too. Sells well.

My sales tax app. was accepted I got my TID# and my certificate should be here by the 24th

Congrats! I knew it was ok.

Morgaine, you only take cash when you go to the market don't you? Or do you accept checks to? I was thinking it definitly best to deal in cash only right now.

Yes, although no one has asked me if I do at all since I've been there. I think it's pretty much understood that it's cash only at the farme's market. Love your new soaps, very pretty! Those brocade molds are a pain for me to work with but the design is just so pretty! I like the flecks of white too.

BB- I know I told you earlier, but I love the soap you posted. Is the green still holding true? I might have to try the parsley powder. The rosemary powder turned brown on me.

I had another good weekend. This was the first time for the Black Raspberry cream soap and I sold ALL of it in 3 hours

I went ahead and odered 2 pounds of it along with some silk fibers. I should get that thursday. I'm going to start doing the Wednesday market too now that ds is out of school. I have 120 bars that will be ready this week and 200 on the curing rack that will be ready 2-4 weeks from now. Dh is going to built me some more molds so I can double up on batches. Citrus and fruit scents seem to do the best, but I had a few people ask about the grandma's kitchen. I guess I'll have to make some more of that.

Be prepared, this is taking off way faster than I thought it ever would. I was going to be happy to just break even the first year, now I'm actually in the black!

Once you start selling, use any profit to put right back into supplies, and then once you have enough stock, you can start to keep your profit. Do you have your prices set? Don't short change yourself, make sure you charge enough to cover your expenses, travel and time!

I'm going to go over my prices one more time before I start. I planned on pouring everything back in except for enought to open my business account at the bank. I forgot about the travel time.

Any advice anyone has for me is more then welcome and appreciated.

Have you worked out what it costs you per bar? I would start there, then see how much for scents, packaging, your booth fee, gas, food. We always take a lunch with us, I don't want to start the habit of eating out.
