Soap Makers Help!

How did the FM's go this weekend, gals?

ametauss - I'd so like to have a junk room to work in! You're lucky, AC/Heat or not.

At least you're not crawling over soap day in and day out.

chiknwhisperer - Glad to hear that your FM went well and congrats on selling so many of the felted soaps! That's awesome! Although you'd probably rather that the lady used the soap than use it as an air freshener, I do understand somewhat. Everyone who steps into my house comments on how good it smells.

I may steal that idea and use some of the end trimmings in my car!

Our markets went well. The Tomball one is small but they are in a great location and get quite a bit of foot traffic. I did $157. Now for the bad news. That was the only time I'll be at the tomball one. They had accepted an application from another soapmaker that jsut got approved a few days before mine and she starts the market next month. They gave me the option to keep coming, but I said no. This is a really small market and can't support 2. I did tell them that if she decides to not do the market anymoe to let me know.

Dh did a $102 at the other market. Not bad since the othe soaper was there. He took his motorcycle and new trailer and was like a kid with a new toy, lol. I was a little upset though because he lowered the pice to $4 because he didn't want to deal with change.

CW- Yeah, I don't understand the people who buy them as car fresheners. I had a lady buy a big ba just for that reason. I did warn her that it could melt, but she went ahead and bought it

I'm using the dinning room down stairs. That part of the house is unfinished, so no ac/heat either. But it's great having everything in just one spot. I have 1 six foot shevling unit and 2 three footers from sam's. I have a 6 ft work table. I need to do some organizing though, I'm not big on the way I store all the little things.

We did pretty good - $163. The first almost 2 hours was not the greatest as we had a quick thunderstorm that last about 1/2 hour and then had to wait for people to see it was over to start coming out. But once it cleared up, the market was busy and we had lots of people stop by and sniff/buy.

Last night I couldn't stand it anymore and HAD to make some soap....

I had gotten some melt & pour from a lady on cheap cycle, I really wanted her molds and scents but hey, soap is soap....

I melted a clear gly w/ a goat's milk added in some Castile and witch hazel powder, shea, and some Jasmine absolute and a little beer for liquid during the melt....

I had my doubts that it would harden and come out but this morning the soap is hard and although I'd never used absolutes before, the Jasmine is fairly faint....

I'm hoping it will make a nice hair shampoo....

I went to the farmers Market / stock yards on Saturday and I don't think these people know what soap is....

I did sell a couple of jars of Black Salve.... a few bars of soap but not really enough to talk about... I even had my VERY cute 5y/o hawking on her own trying to get folks to stop by....

I'll try again next week...

ametauss, what is Black salve? My dad always had a tin of black salve. He use it to cure every thing. From warts to bee stings. I have not seen it anywhere or knew what is was.
Sometime I am going to make soap. DH is not well and have not had the time. Gail

Alright here are some options I've come up with for Fall scents

Apple Jack Peel
MLF Pepper Zest eo blend
Orange Spice eo blend
Peppermint eo
Cedar And Saffron- BB
Christmas Spice- BB
Gingersnap-BB
Winter Grapefruit-BB
Creme Brulee-SW
Fata Morgana SW This will be for the renaissance faire
Red Apple Jack SW
Spiced Pumkin Souffle-SW
Sweet Fresh Pumkin-SW

I really like the pumpkin ones. They all sound great though. I was trying to figure how I could use real pumpkin in a soap. I haven't a clue but I'm thinking though lol.

GCST - I posted the reciepe in this post since a few others asked about it... go back a couple of pages... It's a rather long post....

I also use it on almost everything from bee stings, bug bites, even the nasty teenage boy pimples.... It's been about 15 to 20 years since I saw it on the market and when I ran across the reciepe, I jumped on it... some of the ingredients are a bit hard to find but I did notice when I went to the Texas Supply on Morgaine's supply thread, they had all of the ingredients there....

I can tell you that I didn't let mine cook long enough since it's a bit grainy now.... But it still works...

Can someone give me a few post ##'s...if you know them....of pictures people have turned in showing how they display their soaps? Do you know how many pages are on this thread!!
