soap making ?'s

You need to be careful and make sure what you are getting is pure lye. A few years back Red Devil was pulled off the shelf because it's used to make crystal meth. Most things you find now are not pure lye, and if it isn't your soap won't set up right. Not to mention additional weird chemicals in there.
A few online suppliers

Bramble Berry http://www.brambleberry.com/Sodium-Hydroxide-Lye-2-lbs-P3037.aspx

Snowdrift
Farms http://www.snowdriftfarm.com/dry.html

Bitter

These
are all companies I have ordered from before and I believe they are good companies. I also thought this was an interesting read. http://candleandsoap.about.com/od/coldprocesssoapmaking/a/lyesources.htm

thelyeguy.com is where I ordered my lye.
Not bad prices, just be very careful about how you store it.
I ordered it last year, and still haven't had time to make soap!!

well we bought some at lowes it cost $13 for 2lbs of it. we went to an amish store and they had it for $2.14 for 1lb container of it. so we took the one back to lowes and now r buying it from the amish store. i didn't get back to tsc but i figured how cheap the amish store had it for was probably the best price i could get it for around here. we made a soap for fishing so far it is for a bait ew does it stink should catch channel cats real good though, lol.

can't wait to do some real soaps. do any of u have recipes for laundry soaps? i can only find one of my soap books at the moment but it doesn't have laundry ones in the recipes.
thanks so much for all the help!!
