Solar fan

I am in central CA as well, so we have similar climate to what you describe (a little cooler, we still try to count our 100+ days even though their number seems to be increasing). Nights here are for most nice and cool because we get the breeze from the SF bay. A three sided coop would be an easy solution, I think I will actually start out with that, I can always make adjustments later.

Are your chickens tolerating the 100-110 days OK? What breeds do you have?

I have some Buff Orpington hens and a couple mixed breed chickens right now. I have had Barred Rock, EE, RIR Leghorn and several other odds and ends and mixes over the years here. They will do fine in the heat if they have shade, LOTS of ventilation, and fresh cool water to drink. I give mine damp soil on really hot days. They love to see me coming with the hose! They know it's gonna cool em off when I spray down the run. Like kids playing in the sprinkler.
