Solar power for my coop - I wanna be Green

I wonder what types of vegetables we will have to cut back on, besides beans to reduce global warming?

I started reading this post and I was like why the heck would you spend that kind off $$ on "greening" your coop.

I honestly hate being dependent on foreign oil, paying outrageous utility bills and watching the population surging so high that many natural resources are being ravaged. I will never forget sailing off the coast of California and seeing the brown smog that hung over LA. It really makes me wish we could figure out alternatives. moderate liberal here. I bet we aren't far apart.

On another note, I thought you were serious in your post. You got me.

I am embarrassingly gullible. Oh but I really only stand 5'3".

I think we all are striving toward being GREENER.... one baby step at a time works for me. Heck getting chickens was a pretty big step

PC, did you say that you are part of a group trying to reduce the methane gas produced from cattle? Do you seriously think that cattle cause more pollution than the automobiles in the U.S.?

I was wondering what kind of a coop would need all these fans and lights? Are you a commercial grower? Unless you have a lot of chickens that are confined to a building, I can't imagine why they would need so much cooling and lights. Chickens have been keeping cool for many years without all THAT....Just curious, I guess. :|
