During my first hatch, my first born(hatched) chick played kickball with my second"pipped"egg, knocking it over to where the hole was on underneath instead of on top. I quickly turned him right side up. This time Im putting each egg into its own little "cradle" to see if that minimizes the kickball game. I will keep you updated. To make them I cut off a 1/2 inch of toilet paper roll and plopped the egg right on top of it. I am going into lockdown today, so wish me luck!

You're incredibly clever!!

I'm doing something similar to isolate which chick hatches out of each FBCM egg: sock compartment inserts! You know, those things that look like the dividers for Christmas ornament boxes?? I think I'm pretty clever with this one!

I bet the ornament thing would work too but, I did the toilet paper roll thing cause i thought they would get more air circulation. They are pretty dang steady in there too. Me and my 10 year old practiced with fridge eggs and it takes one hell of a jolt to knock em outta there! I will take pictures when they hatch, maybe even video...

You could probably make some kind of divider constructed from super thin wood, or hardwear cloth(with no sharp edges)or out of something really cool. I will brainstorm!

Well ,the first born has arrived! just as I expected he is trying to get his footing and in the process practically doing somersaults over the unhatched eggs. I am proud to report the "egg cradles" are holding up very well. He hasnt been able to budge a single one!

Save yourself the energy and use cartons.

I like your idea, but the only thing I don't like is that once the chick tries zipping, the integrity and "grasp" of the those things may actually prevent some chicks from zipping quick enough, and may exhaust them with trying to push their way out. But, I hope I'm wrong!
