some confirmation on breed/gender

The Roo looks like a barred rock, The hen looks like a Maran hen not a barred rock hen, as for the rest they look like EE's to me except they have yellow legs. My experience is they have slate/grey legs when they are EE's, So that part is confusing to me. Maybe some other breed I've never seen. Could they be a mix? Sorry

Wow. I'm glad everyone agreed there wasn't a Welsummer, because I didn't see any in that batch either!

You got gipped......
They all look like Easter EGGER crosses. The barred are definately not Black Australorp. Welsummers do not have muffs, beards or tufts like these do. you need to go back to the breeder and get a refund.

But, actually I like them myself and think they are pretty. Your choice: Refund or keep them.

One clue to look at...

A breeder that spells their Ameraucanas "Americanas" does not have Ameraucanas. 99.9% of the time. Period. They will be Easter eggers every time.

The second barred chicken is most definitely also a rooster, going by the curving of the tail feathers; simply a bit slower growing than the first.

Either this breeder cheated you out, or she mixed up a LOT of her breeds/chicks...

You're right, I noticed that too, but I'm beginning to wonder if any of them are even pure.

I haven't noticed that much curve in a pullet's tail feathers (unless they are Yoko/Phoe/Sum breeds) but, I've also never had Marans before. Maybe I should keep shut? Lol.
It will be interesting to see how they turn out.

Does the OP want to post photos of them in a couple weeks/months?

So I looked up the maran, the barred birds in the first two photos have yellow legs..... if fact 5 of the 6 babies do, except the white/greyish beige barred style bird has dark grey legs very similar to my egyptian fayoumis! Oddly enough she says she doesn't have barred rock and I didn't see any on her farm!

I am not sure where to go from here, I would never confront someone when I have little knowledge on the genetics of birds but I am terribly dissapointed that it appears my birds are not what they were supposed to be and that I paid such a high price for them ($5 vs $2 doesn't seem so much but when multiplied over and over adds up) however they are very sweet so of course having raised them from day olds I will keep them. It is safe to say I won't be selling her one of my egyptian fayoumi breeding pairs!!

We will go out later on and see if we can get a better picture of each one... I might as well know exactly what I have!
