Some of my neighbors are wondering why...

Looks nice!!! To bad about the 4 hen ordinance. Because you're gonna find it's hard to stop wanting more. I started with 2, then within a month I had 4, then a few months later 15 now I have 6 coming on Saturday. I can't stop the chicken insanity. LOL you'll see what I mean...

When you get your birds are you going to get peeps or are you going to get a little older ones.If you get peeps don't be surprised at the size or what they look like.As you learn more about chickens you will see how entertaining they they can be.I'm always learning and there are so many breeds to choose from. Good luck and happy adventures.

We're planning on peeps. We have a few breeds chosen that we like. The only question is mail order, or from the local Tractor Supply.? I'm afraid we won't get what we want if we don't order them now.

I have gotten from both and I prefer mail order. The biggest problem with mail order is that most of the time you have to order more than you want. I've had good results tho.Sometimes tractor supply has a good selection, just make sure you stay away from straight runs unless you don't care what gender you want. I've had fairly good luck with those. You probably will have to get 6 peeps. That's what the minimum is.

Thanks for the info. I think we'll go mail order. We're looking to order from at Murry McMurray Hatchery in Iowa. If I have to pay for 6 I will, but can only have 4. Maybe the ordinance will change in time. :-/

LOVE your little coop! Absolutely adorable. :)

And I love your statement about people talking about you. Haha.

Good luck with your peeps! I am going to be ordering mine from MMcM, too, once I figure out how many.

Thanks, TexasJ. Yes, the osb is just the underlayment until I can side over it. I stained it with some deck stain to protect it for now, while finishing the trim work. Hope to side it in a couple of week - weather permitting. I'll post more pics as it progresses through the winter.
