Ok...some of you might remember the nightmare I was going through at the beginning of the year with the people we were buying our house from, them refusing to honor the contract, the lawsuit, etc. etc.

Well, I was just on Craigslist searching for land in our area, and saw that my house was listed for sale as of May 6th.

Pictures and everything. For sale by owner.

I have sent an email to Craigslist and flagged the ad, but nothing has been done. We've had people driving up to our house the past few weeks, but they have also been parking outside and just sitting. This all started about the time this was apparently posted.

Why are they able to do this? Do I not have any legal rights? Is this stalking or harassment? I need some help! This is crazy.

This sounds real crazy!

And scary too! Yes, you have rights, but the question is, who is doing that? I wish you luck in getting to the bottom of this, its just not right. Please let us know what you find out.

That's horrible! Can you set up a fake e-mail address (on gmail or...?) to reply to the craigslist ad? Then you would have an idea of who it is, and would have more information to bring to the police.

I'm so sorry this is happening, but at least they can't sell your house, they can only bother you about it.

Sheesh - I can't believe this is happening to you! If it's the people from before, I would definitely categorize it as harrassment. Can you talk to your realtor? Let me know if I can do anything.

I am pretty sure it is the people we bought the house from. It was their original ad. They were neighbors of ours. And CRAZY.

We called our realtor and he can't believe it either. But there's nothing he can do.

We contacted the lawyer we used in the real estate deal, but he hasn't said much.

I already did the fake email, but no response. I think it is just for harassment. This does explain why people have been stopping in front of my house taking pictures, though! I hope no one ever comes to look in the windows while I am here alone!

I am just wondering what my legal rights are here. Do I even have any? I told Craigslist that it was a scam and no house for sale.

I would find out who it is...set them up somehow...there has to be an e-mail to respond to in the craigslist ad. ooh..people are so nasty sometimes!

Did you call the cops? Ask them what your options are?

Did you give craigslist all the details? They should take the ad down if you tell them that it is your house, it's NOT for sale and your crazy ex-neighbors (ex-owners of the house) were probably the ones posting the ad.

I think putting up a large sign *NOT for sale* is a good idea, too.

No, no address, just a link to the FSBO.com website that I called and they have the house listed as withdrawn. I called as an interested potential buyer, but the house wasn't listed by them. They said it had to be the owners of the house.
