Gotta read through the thread, folks... The CL listing is gone, she has a lawyer, she owns the house, and unless she's pressing charges, I'm guessing it's a closed book.

thats not entirely true..if children are being tortured, they will step in and do something. i would call them and go up the ladder and get the kids out of that situation. no child deserves to be tortured.
Well...they still have them. Nothing has ever been done and the neighbors know details, since they were the ones living here. They have been reporting them for years, and none of them were ever removed, they just told them they couldn't have any more.

I think if you google "Erin Maxwell" you'll get an idea of how good the authorities are here in NY.
sred, I'm so sorry that you had to go through that but I'm also very happy to see that it's finally been taken off CL. I know you're breathing a serious sigh of relief.
Glad you got the house off of Craigs' List. I would still keep an eye out for the crazies. Maybe read up on your self defense laws & remember dead people are not allowed to testify.

Knowing someone possibly had a key to my house would scare me to death. These crazy people could give "prospective buyers" a key to your home to have a look around.
Why can't you change the lock? Why do you have to replace the door in order to have a new key/lock changed? Can the lock be removed and it rekeyed? Have all the doors rekeyed and keyed alike so you only have to have one key.
Hopefully, the FBI will get involved and hopefully it'll be enough for these people to have a "record" then hopefully they'll never be allowed to foster again.
If you can't afford a gate get a 5 gal bucket with some sand in it, put a picket fence type post in it and post on it "sold" and "No Trespassing". Then stick in the middle of the entrance to your driveway/road. It would be a pain to move when you leave or come home but then again a gate is also. I hope that made sense.
We are just about going through the same darn thing with our house in Georgia. There are rights, but you have to be able to afford a great lawyer. If you have a video camera, I would definitely take videos of people stopping by looking (every time you can), and put the ad on a video as well. Just pull up your computer and the ad and film it. Craigslist has been pretty good about removing ads, especially since that guy killed that woman a few weeks ago. If its not removed in 24 hours, call your local tv new, they would love to put craigslist on tv again I'm sure.
