Someone keeps making complaints about my chickens! (Update post #222!)

Someone else I know emailed her saying they know someone that works for the county that can help her, just to see what she would say. LOL she says she has pictures of my chickens getting out by digging under the fence.

Ok so who else has had their chickens dig under the pen and escape just like a bored puppy does?

I need to take an informal poll.

I really want to see those pictures.

Then she randomly emailed my friend again at 10 at night and said she just found 3 other neighbors that have had problems, and they also have pictures, and they are turning them in this week. (Not sure where!?) Then she said that News Channel 36 will be airing a story about it, she thinks later this week but she's not for sure.

I'll let you know when the news contacts me about it....

Oh and she also emailed this to another friend who politely warned her that the police will take her threats seriously:

Excuse me your rudeness is absurd. None said kill ass u me you know what that owrd means lady, get a life and quit harrassing me with your emails or i will report you to the moderator, they let me post it, so keep your **** mouth shut ot me if all you want ot do is be an ass.

I googled her further and some things I read said she lives in Georgetown. She doesn't even live in Lexington!?!

This is better than a soap opera and you are playing the good gal vs. the bad. Just don't add fuel to the fire. Since this lady is in Georgetown, is it possible that they are harrasing a different person? I'm anxious to see thier photos of these 'chickens' digging under the fence.

They really need to get a life. Hang in there Andora. If they are having a news cast involved, it will be hilarious when it blows up in their face!

Well she told me the person was named Amy and lives off of the same road that I do. Then when I started only letting my chickens out in the afternoon she posted saying that the person is letting their chickens out after hours of code enforcement.

Seems like too many coincidences to be someone else!

I've decided not to speak to her at all. No emails or anything. I think she's using drugs and hallucinating or something, she has to be.

The main moderator of Cheapcycle has apparently been on vacation, and she came back today and deleted all of crazy lady's chicken posts! Thank God!!

I'm confused about several things. Her screen name all over the internet is Divorced_mom2002 and it's always linked to her email. She posted on Freecycle saying she lives in Georgetown. She also asked for Joyce Myer books on Freecycle...and when you type her email address into Facebook a profile comes up that lists a married woman--says she's been married for 9 years. But on her info page she writes about how much she loves Joyce Myer books. So...?

Anyway, I'm going to try to stop fretting over this. I have better things to worry about than a crazy lady...

Just my two cents

So sorry you are having this trouble. Some people are never happy no matter what. They have to complain about something. If it was not your chickens it would be something else.

I am so blessed to have the greatest neighbors. They all love fresh eggs and some have even had chickens before.

Now I'm tempted to find out where she lives, and put a big ol' roo in her yard. Or maybe an emu.

I would love to own an emu.

Interesting development...an elderly neighbor came to our door today. He and his wife live across the street and down one house from us. He said a neighbor came to his house and talked to his wife one day and asked her to call the city and complain about my chickens. He didn't feel comfortable saying who it was but he referred to the person as "she". His wife loves my chickens and especially my pair of pekin ducks, and she refused to complain because they definitely aren't bothering the people across the street in any way what so ever.

Then he said the person called him to try to convince him to call and complain. He assured us that he wouldn't complain and that he loves to listen for the rooster. He can barely hear it outside his house. He said he wishes he had the energy because he would get his own small flock and listen to his rooster every morning.

Then he said he didn't understand what her problem could possibly be and he has no idea how she could smell or hear or even see anything from "way down there."

So it's not an immediate neighbor. Which is interesting. I mentioned before how it's not easy to see in my yard in the first place, due to a large garage on one side and a tree line on the other side...this person must be trying *really* hard. Apparently she's even out rounding up random neighbors to complain! I hope she didn't find anyone who wanted to cooperate with her.

I'm thinking hard about who it could possibly be but I am still at a loss...

FWIW, my chickens do dig under my fence to get from one part of the yard to another. However, if they dug to get OUTSIDE of my backyard, I would know it. If yours were digging under, there would be a hole through which they could escape. Now that you have a report that they are digging out, walk around your fenceline looking for any possible escape holes. Note that you did so (include date and time) and what you did/did not find in the log I mention below.

I am beginning to wonder if your chickens are merely her means of attack, that the real issue is somehting else entirely. Is there anyone angry with you, or any other issues that might have generated this vendetta? Because that is what this has become. Keep a notebook of everything, including what the neighbor across the street told you (document not just what he said, but also when he told you--date, time, and when he said she told him. Ask if he is willing to share this information with the police. You might also ask him if he knows of any other neighbors who have issues with your birds.
