Someone keeps making complaints about my chickens! (Update post #222!)

I have a horrible neighbor to the back too. The existing fence is his I belive, and is nothing but a patchwork of mess, combined with lots of privet that I love for the privacy factor.
Just today I was thinking about aquiring some of that runner bamboo - you know the kind that takes over? to plant along the back.....The original idea involved containing it, forcing it grow into a "privacy fence" of sorts, as I have seen done using concrete..... but the evil side of me almost wants to only contain MY side!

Amy, this has just got to be dementia. Logically, there is no way someone could one day give you loads of garden veggies, save up egg cartons, then make angry raving complaints-- she has some sort of age related mental issues. It is not you! There's nothing wrong with you! You were just being sweet to an elderly neighbor. Don't let this change who you are and how you interact with your neighbors. I am in the minority but personally I think you should still be polite and yes, even friendly to the elderly neighbor. You have nothing to gain by eschewing her and besides, on her good days she really likes you and may not have any memory of her "angry" days.
Grow some vines and enjoy your garden so both you and your chickens can free range again.
I have an anonymous neighbor complaining about me too, so I really sympathize! How 'bout you come move next door to me?

Boy, after reading this thread,
I'm so happy I have cool neighbors.

My yard isn't fenced, but my neighbors say to me all the time they don't care if my chickens wonder into there yard. One neighbor actually likes it when they go clean all the leaves away from his fence. lol. He said it saves him a ton of work raking... I have 5 Barred Rock Hens and one Barred Rooster. All are about 6 months old, but not laying any eggs yet. I'm starting to think something is wrong. My neighbors keep asking when those eggs are going to start flowing. When should they start laying eggs? Here is a couple short video's I posted on youtube of our place and my chickens...

I hope everything is going well, I know how you feel about your chickens, I feel the same way...

That sucks about the neighbor problems... makes me ever more grateful for living in the rural part of the county no problems like that here.

I do hope that peace will be restored soon in the neighbor hood... all it take is just one person to disrupt the flow of things...

I tried that reed fencing a long time ago to help with neighbor problems and it just blew over. So I built my own privacy fence. If I can do it anyone can. I used the premade fence sections from home depot, dug holes w a posthole digger the right space apart, put some gravel in the bottom of the hole, drove nails in the 4x4 posts, set them in the hole and leveled them using a fence post leveler. I don't remember banging any boards into them to hold them, I am pretty sure I did a final leveling once the concrete was put in. I mixed the concrete in my wheelbarrow.

I did have help putting up the panels, my friend held them while I put 3 inch deck screws in them. I'm just a girl and was about 30 at the time. If I can do it anyone can. You don't have to be handy and the fence doesn't have to be perfect.

I'll bet they are old and senial. Plus they probably have family members instigating. I would probably come right out and ask them why they didn't just come right out with their concerns.

I just read through this entire thread! haha I couldn't get away from it, it was so interesting. Since most of this is "semi" solved now, I'll just chime in on the part that is not resolved....

Since you guys have money constraints and such...I would suggest putting up some tarps against the back fence, or even higher (by digging some holes and putting up a couple of 4x4's to help get the height you want). It''ll just be a temporary thing until you guys can get a privacy fence up.
