We get dumped cats all the time, why not chickens?

So sickening how people treat animals.I guess they felt it was a disposable animal and when they grew tired of it, they dumped it off.My silkies are my pets.I would never think of treating them this way. I had a hen with mareks disease. Took it to the vet and had it humanly put down. I hope this bird has found it's new home with you ♥♥♥

Aggravating? yes...Trouble? yes. gift? Probably.She is a nice girl. Took me 6 months to get rid of the leg mites from my gift girl. She lays every other day. she has earned her keep.

White beak, white legs, irregular barring=Cuckoo Marans.

Opened the coop up this morning and this bird walks out. Have no idea where it came from or how it got into my coop! Anyhow, its free ranging with my chickens acting like its been there its whole life. Is it a Barred Rock?

Looks like it but hard to tell by photo because can not see comb well. If single comb Barred Rock. If rose comb Dominique.

What I find amazing, is not how jerky people can be I've seen too many examples of people dumping animals to even be surprised, but that this hen integrated into your flock overnight.

You just never know where people are in life. Something that seems ridiculous to some may be desperate to others. At least they took the bird to this place. Is it right in its condition? Nope!! She is not old 2 at best. keep her and she will return thanks.

Yes, and some dump dog's too! We seem to be a "throw-away society" where when you get tired of something, you throw it away and let it become someone else's problem. I keep my flock in an coop that I lock, and I have the only key to. They have a nice predator-proof pen that is attached to the coop.

That is terrible! I’m sorry it has lice. People need to understand that their problems are none of your business and it is not responsible to dump them on you.
