Someone Tossed this in my Coop.

Like others have said, looks to be a Barred Rock, sorry she had lice. I had something similar happen, although the chicken was not left one of my various broodpens (I don't keep coops, just pens) it was in my yard. At first I thought it was one of my Old English Game Bantam/ Pit Game Crosses, but then I discovered it wasn't one of them. I'm assuming she was silver duckwing from the looks of her chicks (Yeah I ended up breeding her like 5 times. I'm terrible I know.) She looked just like an OEGB, but with a pea comb, and she was just a little bit larger. So now I see I am not the only one this has happened to, glad I'm not alone lol.

I’ve had kittens and a puppy dumped in my yard .... that’s amazing ! Sorry she infected your flock ,sounds like you’re on top of it , she is a pretty girl :)

I couldn’t make boys maybe someone will dump one on my driveway??
I’ve got one for you!!! He’s a senior and ready to have college paid for....when can we drop him off? He does like chickens and he’s cute!

Maybe she was a bootyhole where she was and just decided to be nice for you. The fella that gave me Hobo was going to turn her loose at the dump because she kept pecking the dog and flogging his wife. She's never flogged me, she will peck the cat though...but the cat asks for it.:)
I could understand if it was a rooster that got tossed! I get it, people don't want, or cant keep roo's and tend to do irresponsible things to get rid of them. But why would someone toss out a pretty hen? I keep thinking something must be wrong with her, why else get rid of her? She appears healthy, poop looks good and normal, nice red plumpy wattles and comb. Legs and feet look good. Maybe she's too old to lay eggs, so ppl didn't want her anymore? I don't know but people are disgusting. This really could put my little flock in danger healthwise.

I hope so! All my girls are molting, except for the babies and the mama that hasn't started back laying yet, and her eggs really don't count (she really doesn't count as a chicken either) cause she's a bantam. So, we are getting an egg only here and there. I refuse to buy eggs when I have these chickens. I hope Found lays soon. If she doesn't lay, then I wont count her as a chicken either. Im not counting one of the babies either cause hes a cockerel. I guess that means I can hatch more eggs in the spring! :celebrate

It's amazing how well and quickly she integrated into your flock. It makes me wonder if she had been free-ranging with your birds for awhile before she snuck into the coop. Someone could have done a road-side dump and she found her own way over to the good life.

I hope she lays for you.
I know! I intro'd 2 new girls into my flock this spring and it was horrible. My girls were so mean. This new one, they accepted her right away. Go figure....weird chickens

Opened the coop up this morning and this bird walks out. Have no idea where it came from or how it got into my coop! Anyhow, its free ranging with my chickens acting like its been there its whole life. Is it a Barred Rock?
