Something Fishy - a thread for fish owners

I haven't bought my tank/pond yet. I just cant decide where to put it 🤷🏻‍♀️ I hope it will look as nice as yours when I finally get it though 🥰
If you need any advice/help just lmk!!!! This was our second or 3rd attempt on the koi pond to finally get everything the way we wanted it and by the time we added the goldfish pond, we had it figured out pretty well. Still hoping to add some capstones over the goldfish pond and waterfall this year and get my top back on the koi pond waterfall and finish staining.

Depends on the type of pleco. Do you know or can you find out which one you have?
I've tried to do some online searches, but not having a lot of luck narrowing it down. Based on the little bit I know, the previous owner had had it for a few years, so I don't think it's getting any bigger? But I know zip about plecos, learning as I go and trying to do the best I can for him/her😊

I need to check in at my local pond store!!! I’ve been dying to add a hi-fin shark and she didn’t have any available last year!!!!

Maybe. Some fish can grow pretty slow. Try to get a couple of good pictures and post them here. maybe someone can identify it. There are sone amazingly knowledgable people on here 🤣

I feel pretty lucky to have chicken people who can also help me with my fish stuff!! This is my "guy". The dang guppies kept stealing the focus🤣I have been assuming common pleco, but hoping not because those ones get huge, don't they?

I tried koi but they were always getting sick and died
I’ve been really lucky with my koi overall.....my original 2 were from a local pet store and the rest from a local pond store. I’ve lost a couple but they were completely my fault forgetting to turn off the water hose and overflowing/overfilling the ponds.

I have two little "nano" tanks. No filter, CO2, or aerator. One just has some snails in it and a few goldfish which I am actually feeding to my ducks, then a few plants. But my other one has a few shrimp and one of those dwarf sucker mouth catfish things for algae eating. They are all doing great! The shrimp tank is fully planted. Tiger Lillies, a dwarf hair grass carpet, water spangles, duckweed, amazonian frog bit, and then 2 other things that I accidentally got with the duckweed (there were three floating roots that somehow got swept up and into the bag at the pet store. So I buried them in the substrate and they are all growing well. My plan is to have a tank that is totally self sufficient. Which right now it is I guess but I kind of want one or two ornamental fish to look at mid water column. But all the poop (which there isn't much of). Just sinks down and fertilizes the hair grass, the water is filtered by all the plants and such. Along with plenty of Oxygen for the fish/shrimp coming from the plants. And all the animals in it live solely off of algae (there is plenty to go around at this point), but I just added more shrimp and the catfish so hopefully it will lessen and then I will start feeding them.

Im planning on moving the snails out of the other tank and giving them to my sisters betta tank, then redoing the tank and adding a hole bunch of plants. Then maybe I will have like rasboras or tetras or something

You're correct - H. plecostomus. Common Pleco.
He’s gorgeous! Let’s try @Overo Mare, she knows everything 🤣
