Looks like mineral build up, possibly from condensation and not a leak.I saw something that appears to be scale on the outside bottom of my 55. Could this be an early warning that it’s leaking? Sorry this isn’t the best picture.
Thanks. I’m just so nervous about leaks.Looks like mineral build up, possibly from condensation and not a leak.
If I saw what I thought was a leak, I would seriously freak out and move my fish to a new tank.Thanks. I’m just so nervous about leaks.
I could probably find someone. Thank you so much for the advice!I used to be the same way. I ended up simply just talking to the local fish store owners, small timers, and found that somehow almost magically I was able to keep them alive! I have even successfully treated a few. Sadly not nearly as many as have come down with stuff, but it still feels nice.
Do you have any local fish store people you can turn to?
A 55 gallon with a leak would not be a good thing, that's for sure! Clean it up and and see how fast it forms back. Have you had temp fluctuation like turning you air conditioning up and down that would cause sweating or condensation? Or water dripped there accidentally? Heck, now you got me nervous!!Thanks. I’m just so nervous about leaks.
I had a 55gal leak 2 yrs ago right before we were about to go out of town. It was a disaster and a nightmare so I get your fear! Our water level was dropping noticeably so keep an eye on that. It could’ve just been from a splash when you cleaned the tank. It looks more mineral to me too. If it was leaking it would still be wet I think. Since our leak I built an acrylic base to sort of catch a leak before it becomes a disaster again. I put a leak detector in the base. Hard to describe but I’ll post my set up!Thanks. I’m just so nervous about leaks.
That looks really coolHere’s our set up. We tried to convert an old built in into a wall tank and it totally worked. Hard to maintain but fun to look at. I want to add something more colorful to the tank so maybe an angel. Right now we have rummy nose Tetra, pearl gouramis (peaceful but very boring), emperor tetra, snails, and a Siamese algae eater. Working on redoing the plants right now. View attachment 2322195View attachment 2322196View attachment 2322197
