Something is wrong with my silkies left eye - Some sort of infection?

Today I found his left eye closed with some gunk and feathers around it. I cleaned him up and when I took the tissue to his eye a whole bunch of clear mucus-like stuff came out. His eye still won't open and it seems like he's not able to open it. It smells kind of bad too, smells like the egg of a newly hatched chick.
His left eye has always been a little watery, ever since he was a chick. What is it and what can I do for him? He is eating/drinking/pooping fine.

Terramycin. You might try drops of eye saline to flush it out until you can get some. Also read this one:
