Somone, please answer my questions! :(((

OK first up..He does not need to eat right now. He can stay in the bator for up to 48 hours after hatch without eating or drinking. If he has not absorbed his yolk there is little chance he will survive. You can not pull off the sack it needs to be absorbed by the chick. I would try wrapping the part where the sack is still attached to the chicken with a moist cloth. I would have not intervened on a chicken that has not hatched for only 12 hours. Some of them can be quite slow hatching up to 24hours can be very normal from pip to hatch. When you open the incubator while they are pipping you mix up the humidity and they will quite often get shrink wrapped.

Thanks. I will give him more time. He just looks so pitifull. He can't stand, and since he bled

as much as he did, it worried me... it's about day 26-27...I doupt anymore will hatch, but I

guess we'll see

Do you think i should try water? Doesn't he need to dry first?

He does need to be dry first. I would not try anything else yet. Jyst let him rest and regain his strenght. When you get to the about 24hours since he hatched and is all dry you can possibly try then. He will need to be able to move around and support himself before i would consider giving him water. Sometimes even with our best intentions they just are too weak to make it.

I know about the shrink wrapping, It's day 27. I was very

much so doupting any will hatch, and I opened the incubator to add water, I checked an egg,

and there was a pip. Theyolk was just attached to him, but now it 'looks' like it's absorbed,

but I can still kindof see it...like it's in a clear sac in his tummy..Maybe I'm just incredibly

stupid. I don't know.

You are in no way stupid. We all learn from our own mistakes and when i was first incubating trust me i made alot. If you think it is absorbing the yoke then there is a chance for your chicky.

It actually sounds like he is making progress. Just sit on your hands and let him rest and finish absorbing the yolk.

Please don't be so quick to help any others that may start to hatch.

Thankyou satay and taz.. Honast that makes me feel alittle better.

Here is a piture of him. He seems to WANT to move, but can't. The

yolk looks to be disapearing, but I cant tell. He moves his head and

feet alot also...kinda like a 'stretch'. Hes in an egg carton lid,

because I didn't want him on the grate with the cord and yolk hanging

off of him.

While ever he is still moving he is in with a chance. I think i agree it does look like the yolk is absorbing. Just do nothing now and let him/her be. If he is meant to make it he will dry out and start moving around. You can at that point if need be pull the bit of shell of if it does not come free by itself. I will check back here later on to see how your little one is doing.
