I think mankind has been guessing at "the end" long before the maya, and will keep on guessing. As for us, we both lived in SF during the 89 quake, there's medical kits, fire estinguishers, dried food and supplies to last us a month without needing to enter the garden or go to the store if need be. We can both shoot straight and have hand to hand training, if the end doesn't come in our lives, that's fine with me, if it does we'll be in a better position than most of our surburban neighbors.

There's a show on right now called The Colony on discovery channel that deals with this.

I'm more interested in what people will do around that time than what the universe or the weather will do. The mass hysteria that Y2K produced was quite interesting. Are we going to see more doomsday cults? Are people going to hole up in communes?

If anything is really going to happen that is "that big", there's not much we can do to stop it from happening, anyway.

I dont have cable but I heard of that show recently. Heard it was pretty neat.

I told my SO that he should bring a backhoe over and build us a bombshelter...

dang! i dont have cable so i cant see that show - how am i supposed to know what to do? oh well. hunker down and hope for the best.

in the meantime i think the meteor would be the best way to end life as i know it - how cool would that be? it would turn out that all those scifi shows were RIGHT!
