SOOOO Got RIPPED off!

I agree with most of what she said as well, except for using the large flat rate boxes. USPS makes a box, called the #7, that is 3" TALLER than the large flat rate box. As long as you don't use heavy packing materials these work very well and are almost always cheaper to send then the large flat rates. I rarely buy eggs from someone that charges more than $12 shipping (depending on the # and type of eggs)...it's just not necessary to use them in my opinion.

And I said the air cells were probably detached because of the eggs being stored pointy side up, not shipped that way. I'd imagine that most boxes get turned every which way during shipping and I don't really think it matters what direction they are in the shipping box.

Ugh what a terrible story. I would like some more bantam EE's or dare I even ask for AMERAUCANAS lol! But not much luck.

I ordered my bantam EEs from MM, and they are pretty poor quality even for EEs, and EEs don't really even have any standards! My female is a flighty wheaton with yellow shanks that lays whitish eggs... and my boys (3 of them were roos) were VERY aggressive and VERY loud. 2 of them had 'overbeaks' and can't close their mouths completely (so they always look slightly surprised haha). And the 5th died a couple days after arriving; they were very delicate chicks even compared to all the other bantams I ordered... If you're going to break down and buy hatchery chicks, maybe try your luck with MPC. I'm going to try a batch this year and hope for the best...

Well, in that case why did the OP leave positive feedback on opening the package then? S/he seems to have originally been happy enough that all the eggs were intact, and only got annoyed on candling on "day 3 or 4", when s/he decided that half the eggs were infertile and most of the others were too porous to hatch...

If a buyer feels that the eggs were packed badly or are of poor quality, surely the thing to do is to contact the seller before setting the eggs, and not to leave positive feedback, set the eggs, then chuck them after just three days of incubation? That's a bit like buying clothes and cutting out the labels before trying them on, then complaining when you later find out that they don't fit properly...

I'm not disagreeing with you btw. I do agree that the seller's job is to pack healthy eggs correctly.

I respect all that you have said, and yes there are two sides to everything. However, no i was unhappy with what I saw but many of the eggs I had difficulty it telling whether the cells were detached upon arrival. However, my annoyance is even more so with the fact that the several attempts I have made to contact the man have FAILED. I am fully aware that detached cells can still be hatchable, however in this case the ones I removed were not. They were so bad off it seemed as if they were LITERALLY shaken. As I said earlier in a post, much like a maraca. The egg I spoke of with the spot, was not a blood ring. It was a bacterial spot. I will NOT leave an egg that is obviously bad in my incubator. I will not run any chances on ruining any of my other eggs. As I said. I checked the eggs, I cracked a couple open even (which I didnt mention) and they were not even fertile.

Someone mentioned offering a public place, I did that. He did not want to meet up or allow any sort of pick up. Yes, most would immediately say red flag, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he doesnt have a vehicle or is unable to meet for a good reason. However, like I said. Lesson Learned. No more non-reputable sellers will be looked at by me at all.

Thanks to all offering up some sales here. I may come back and contact a few of you. In the mean time, I found a great seller who has some gorgeous EE bantys and purchased a dozen from him.

On another note: Know that I am not new at incubating or buying shipped eggs. I have had terrible hatches and fantastic ones. The fact of the matter is this guy is KNOWINGLY selling eggs that arent any good. If he werent then why wont he contact me back about the eggs? I dont know what his situation is but I know he has two more egg listings on Ebay now and I fear someone else may fall victim to his stupidity. I am a lost cause or rather my purchase was, but I do not want someone else to end up screwed over too.

A bacterial spot?? I've never seen a spot, only blood rings. Got a picture of your 'spot'?

So here is an update. I decided to open a case, which I have NEVER done no matter how unhappy I am. I did it because I contacted him about the new eggs listed. I asked him if the eggs pictured in the 3 day auction were the ones he would be shipping. His answer sadly was yes. And he added to that with a rude tone "that is why there are a 3 day auction" This man only ships Mon-Wed and does 3 day auctions on all of his eggs..... honestly there is no telling how many days it took him to get that many eggs.... and the chick pictures he has posted could be the ones actually laying the eggs (I mean baby pictures of them) I am steamed. Not so much because I got screwed. More so because I dont want someone else to this guy keeps listing eggs and some people just dont know what to look for and unknowingly may walk into his trap. I mean for goodness sakes i did it and I know better.

Oh and here is what MOST of the eggs looked like when they were candled:

Also the bacterial spot i was talking about at almost like a 1mm black dot that was sloshing around in the egg, there was no veining in the egg at all

Actually it is very easy ~ at night all the bees are inside, you just block the entrance hole and pick up the whole hive. It is very heavy though so you best not drop it or you might regret it. Beekeepers move hives at night frequently.

We keep bees and, yes, our TBH is pretty heavy. My DH moved it a few feet recently, but with the help of my sons. I can't imagine the logistics of stealing a Langstroth......the weight of one super alone could be 40 lbs!

My LAST try with Ebay was $25 + shipping for 6 Columbian Wyandotte eggs from a guy in OH. Two eggs hatched, but whoo boy, they were NOT CW! So, for my money, I got two mutt cockerals. I had already left feedback when the eggs arrived.

Hope your case resolves well, or this guy leaves Ebay.

Well, Thought I would leave one last update. The seller decided to call me on my threat to involve Ebay and he lost the case. I recieved a FULL refund. Thank you buyer protection. They told him that the item was not as described. Thanks for the support guys, I am lookin for americana or ee bantam eggs now so if anyone has any let me know
