I have a hen that I was treating for impacted/sour crop. We have two more days of monistat left. She is definitely better but her crop is still squishy and enlarged in the morning. I was wondering if you can use monistat longer than seven days or if anyone has other suggestions? She is getting wet crumble daily and I started adding a probiotic in her water today. She is drinking quite a bit she eats some but not as much as normal. She was also dewormed with safeguard two months ago.

Since there are still two more days, I would wait until the seven days are over then reevaluate. Are you giving it once or twice a day? And what is the dosage you are giving her?

I’m giving it twice a day and about 1/4 inch of the suppository each time.

I'm in a similar situation. We brought in our chicken with sour crop last Wed evening. Started miconazole and fasted her that night and the next day. Friday morning her crop had shrunk considerably, so we have continued treatment and only fed her scrambled egg, watered down plain greek yogurt with fresh garlic, and moistened chicken feed, however, her crop is still not emptying completely overnight. She's gotten very thin (she's also about 6 yrs old). Her energy/strength have gotten a bit better but she's still lethargic and hasn't made a sound since we brought her in. I just started her on a probiotic/electrolyte mix in addition to her water with a little ACV. And I just gave her a little coconut oil too, though I don't think her crop feeps impacted. I'm nervous to try anything else while she's still taking miconazole, could that potentially be toxic together or is it safe?
