Sour crop

Great Great news again. Good Girl Bombie. She's on the mend. I'd keep an eye on here for a couple weeks though. make sure she's not eating hay or long grassy sorts of things. Watch out for yeasty doughy breads. Just straight up grains, mash, what have you. She's probably going to have to be a pretty "clean" eater from here on out. LOL Take care Shell. x

Love hearing all the up and up reports!!!

well after a total of 3 ml liquid parrafin and lots of massage last night i left them all without food for the night and crossed my fingers for the morning, then i sat trawling through page after page of threads on here trying to find where im going wrong, and i think i found it! found some posts from someone called ipana on a thread about sour crop and she she/he advises against putting them back on pellets so soon and instead giving baby food. the details wernt clear so i have pm'd ipana for some detail(i hope they dont mind!!) if they are still on here i hope they answer

i gave her baby food this morning but shes not too impressed. ive asked if mashing the pellets up with boiling water would have the same affect cos i know shell eat that. but im feeling more positive today and i just want her to fatten up a lot!

Morning Shell, or maybe good afternoon to you. I believe ipana was a big part of that wine thread. She had initial success with the wine but then ran into trouble again. I think there is something to the food texture thing to be sure. Reintroducing foods softly and slowly while that crop gets some, I dunno, muscle tonality back to it...LOL. That seemed to be a running part of that thread, the way the hens were fed initially after their trouble.

Brisk morning today -27 F. Everybody is cozy in the coop this morning. Day #4 of this deep freeze stuff. Chickens are behaving though and not picking on each other and must know deep down it's for their own good and that they must team together until we get through this bitter cold.
