An electric fence is not hard to put up. Just make sure you get a good ground rod. I use electric fences around my beeyards to stop bears. That is a little more complicated to do so a simple wire around the coop/run is easy.

Not sure if found any dom eggs but my friend has a bunch of doms. I could ask her for eggs. How many do you want? Are you in the upstate? Ok I see you got hooked up! I just did not read far enough!! Red bug I love the babies. I bought some marans last week(born on my birthday) and I have some in the batot due to hatch this week. My last two hatches were a bust.

Any suggestions on how to get my humidity up? I have soaked paper towels in the water troughs of the lg and wadded up wet paper towels in there. It is at 58%. That is as high as I have been able to gt it. Should I just keep adding wet paper towels?
Update on my flock: we are now living out in Trenton, SC. I had a recent security breech and lost my best Dominique hen to a possum. Also my second clutch of ducklings (Ancona) are growing like weeds.

I need some Dom hatching eggs and want to get started in Dorkings. Anyone know where I can get some hatching eggs?

Hey y'all!!! OMG it's been over A YEAR since I've been on BYC. Well 1 new baby, 1 new house, and 1 new job later here I am! Delighted to be back and hoping to get my new coop built next month so I can fill it with more lovlies. And yes, I still want a turkey. And BLRWs. And more silkies. But no more guineas. Definitely not guineas.

Hi, I'm fairly new on this thread, was introduced to it by my DBF. We live on 10.2 acres in Sumter County. I have 11 girls. 4 RIR's, 4 SLW & 3 Golden Buffs. Enjoy the thread & BYC.

Several months ago we bought 3 big chickens and 1 little chicken at a livestock sale as our first ever chickens. Since then, we've figured out that the bigs are two BO, 1 Australorp but little yellow chicken is still a mystery. She's my 6 year old's chicken- he picked her cause yellow is his favorite color and named her Buttercup. All 3 bigs have been giving us eggs for a while but never Buttercup. We thought maybe she was old and didn't lay any more, which isn't a big issue for us. But today...

A little white egg!

Our first calf was born on the farm today, a little spunky heifer! I think we'll call her Valentine.

Our other cow is due very soon as well.
Also, I have silkie eggs pipping! Today is just a great day for new life, apparently!
