Our first calf was born on the farm today, a little spunky heifer! I think we'll call her Valentine.

Our other cow is due very soon as well.
Also, I have silkie eggs pipping! Today is just a great day for new life, apparently!
HOW AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is everyone getting this rain? I was out this morning in the dark rescuing birds from this pouring rain....

I have decided they get to hang out on the porch until I am sure this rain is over for a while...they are the only ones that were not fending well...so far....

Yes indeed! I know we need rain but does it have to be all at once? 3 days is enough for us. Thankfully everyone has managed to stay dry but the pen is a smelly mess, that's for sure!

Update on my flock: we are now living out in Trenton, SC. I had a recent security breech and lost my best Dominique hen to a possum. Also my second clutch of ducklings (Ancona) are growing like weeds.

I need some Dom hatching eggs and want to get started in Dorkings. Anyone know where I can get some hatching eggs?
RedBug on here raises them, you could see if she will have eggs in the future

Hi everyone! Does anyone know if tractor supply in travelers rest has silkie chicks? And if so, are they labeled as such? Also, is there a minimum you must buy? Thank you!
Any bantams tractor supply has will be in a bin labeled 'mixed bantams', and you can get a wide variety of birds. That being said, I've never seen silkie chicks (they're pretty distinctive) at a tractor supply. The minimum chick purchase is usually 6, and I think 2 for ducklings.
