the total hatch right now is 15 with more due this weekend, then more in 3 and 4 weeks

for the turkeys that is 100% so far, but we started those in the original incubator and moved them to the new one after about a week.

we got the Brinsea 380 and humidity pump.

We need more eggs!

I just thought I'd share a pic of my new assistant (I have a web design business).




This is Prima Donna, or just Donna, our slate blue x bronze turkey cross poult. She was the only one of three that hatched that has survived. The other two both had severe leg spraddle and though we tried everything (band aids, vet wrap, etc), nothing worked and we had to put them out of their misery.

Anyway, Donna has become quite the spoiled little poult and follows me everywhere. If I'm more than 2' away she starts peeping until she finds me. Needless to say, she will never be dinner!

Too cute! turkeys are definately the frendliest most social birds.

Precious! Peggy Sue was the same way until she started laying. Now she only tolerates me petting and loving on her. However, RP the tom is taking the petting I give him much better.
Enjoy your little girl while she is young. They are such good pets as youngsters!

Boy! am I in Trouble!

as you might remember, several weeks ago, I bought a new BIGGER incubator.

of course I had to test it out, so I put in a few eggs.

today we hatched the first batch of 9 turkey poults to add to the 6 d'anvers. with another 36 chickens and turkeys, followed by another 30+ turkeys in 4 weeks.

Best hatch rate ever!

PLEASE tell me there is a chicken swap comming up soon, or that someone here is dying to have turkeys and Mille Fleur D'anvers

Keep this post as evidence in case I die in my sleep mysteriously

I suppose you need all these eggs I collect every day set in your incubator so you can fill your bators but not have to keep the babies! I have long since run out of room in the 3 incubators.

Speaking of Eggs... We drove from Greenville (Pelzer), through Gray Court, to go to Lake Greenwood.
I must say I have never seen so many 'Egg for Sale' signs in my life. I must have counted like 5-6.
I kept pointing them out to my hubby and told him that will be us in a year or so! lol
He just smiled.

He might have been smiling, but something told me that he's thinking 'Right.... and you expect me to build a coop and run for you....''
He doesn't like building and putting stuff together. He's gonna love it when it comes time to build a coop though. lol
