Hey I think hatching for Amy is a good idea. She obviously takes extras from others, you have the capacity, and you get the fun of hatching without all the work afterwards! Seems win win to me!!!

So I took the leap and bought an incubator as a reward for finally finishing my chicken run tonight. I warned my boyfriend of the chicken math that might (probably) ensue and he actually thought it was a great idea! (Even though he had to chase part of our flock away from the railroad tracks and out of the street this afternoon with a broom. Wish I had pictures...LOLZ) Now to pick out some eggs... :D

As compared to what?

As compared to running free range. When having more room they have more places to hide and have long distances to "fly" (yes only 3 feet off the ground, but it gives them speed). In a pen they can only go so far before they hit a fence.

I think Georgia might have its own chickenstock?? You can look through the forum to see! It is such fun! Awww come on just take a road trip!! You know you wanna!!!!
Of course I wanna! It's just that we have too many commitments atm to take all the time and energy to drive too far. And me being unemployed, doesn't help with buying the gas either. GA would be much closer than NC right now. Augusta is only ,maybe 40 miles away.

exactly!  You- got it, I am happy to hatch for Amy!

Goodness knows, I always have the eggs.
I have tried so hard all winter not to set many and when I did hatch I was able to sell anything right away that I needed to since I was setting the little cute fuzzies but now.....now those darned turkeys are laying, the Guineas are laying and pretty much every breeding pen has decided to put forth their best effort to give me eggs. Not that I am complaining but I always feel the need to set them instead of eat them! :jumpy
On a good note though, I have 4 schools that are getting eggs from me for classroom hatching. On the sad note, most of the babies come back to me! :th
And still, I have eggs! I swear some of the girls are doing double egg laying! :/
