South Carolina

Here's the solution, at least it's what I've done. Hatch or buy day old chicks. You can make an easy brooder out of a Rubbermaid tub. If you only want a few birds that gives you about four weeks to finish your coop.

You can't put it off because those little peeps are turning into chickens. Chicken math 101!
I'm actually leaning towards doing the fake mother hen thing. I have 5 dogs right now, so having little peeps in my house is NOT my idea of a good time! LOL

Shoot, that's a good price considering some of the other things I've come across. Like this: https://www.horizonstructures.com/sites/default/files/u34/images/coop/12x40_red_coop2_lg.jpg I have no idea what it costs, but holy mother of all the things is that PERFECT for what I want. I want that so bad. I want to find someone local that can make that or get it as a kit and I'll finish it out.

it sure does look heavenly. My mistake on the shed. It was a 10x8. A steel shed so nothing to great.

Boo! It's hot enough down here. Since I'm looking to move ours from the tree line (it's pretty far away and I can admit that I'm lazy), I want something that's less likely to cook the birds. What we have now has painted metal siding around the perimeter and a metal roof that has failed, making a leak in one corner of the coop. If I find something worthwhile, I'll share :)

I planned on cutting large portions of the sides off and adding chicken wire to make Windows so they wouldn't burn up inside.

It's located between Charleston and Columbia, just south of I95. Probably closer to Charleston by just a smidge.

Welcome, I think I'm still the resident newcomer. (Located near Beaufort SC by savannah) Been building a coop for weeks and still not finished.... Never had birds but looking forward to getting some from some of these fine friendly folks on here.

I know it's a less popular side of things, but does anyone tie flies for fishing? I do and that's probably one of the things I'll love to be a beneficiary of once I get a rooster or two. I don't tie a lot but it is fun to have different colors of those long slender hackle feathers if anyone has some that are going to be thrown out!!! Let me know thanks!
