We've had the plastic circle pools that you don't blow up. . .seems they only last a season before cracking for us. However they do come in handy for container gardening after that

Those tanks from TSC sound good, but we have a well and the holding tank only holds 40 gallons at a time. Guess we'll figure something out. I have to wait until payday anyhow

I have one pool here that I have had for the ducks 2 years. The other 2 were bought last year and I have one of those plastic barrels cut in half.

We also have a well but no limit on the amount of output. I can fill all 4 pools for the ducks and water all the birds while doing laundry and running the dishwasher (like that ever happens!) without running out of water. We dug our well during one of the worse droughts they say we ever have had, back in 1986. Hit water at 24 ft and dug down to 48 ft. In all the hollering about droughts our well has never been low. we are super fortunate. terry used divining rods made out of clothes hangers to find where we should dig. I guess it works!

I wanted to look at that big tub at TSC to see if it has a plug. If not I plan to put one in it. I can't imagine having to tip it over each time to clean it. There are going to be some happy duckly wucklies when I get it filled for them. Terry wants to dig a big hole and set it halfway down in it then put rocks all around to to make it look like a pond. I seriously do not believe the ducks care!

The big blue tubs at tractor supply do have drain plugs. So do most all the stock tanks. I keep koi (ornamental pond fish) and use these stock tanks and tubs as quarantine tanks. The problem with the plugs is they are not in the bottom, but in the bottom side wall. so they don't drain well. I always install a 2" shower drain (from lowes) in the bottom for easier cleaning. Just dug a hole where the pool will sit for the drain plumbing and run the drain plumbing out to drain off away from the pool. you can install these drains in kiddy pools too! Don't use the gasket that comes with it though. Get a tuve of PL roofing sealant from lowes and use a liberal bead of that in place of the gasket. It will never leak.

I am cheating for our duck. We bought one of those $ 10 snap set pools from Walmart and are using that until we think of something else. Plus, once it's warm enough out, I can just drain the pool, sanitize the he*l out of it and use it for the kiddos!

At least we aren't bringing the ducks in the house to use our own tubs!!!

I can see little ducklies swimming in a bath tub but those big ducks would probably march right in the house and get in our big garden tub if they thought we would let them. They love to dive and splash. Then get out and run around like some mad hatter!

Thank goodness it is usually only once a day. They can empty a kiddie pool in 5 seconds and what they don;t empty they get disgustingly dirty.

Thank you, carolinagirl58! I plan on putting in PVC pipe for the draining if DH does decide to sink it in the ground a ways. There would not be a better way to drain it then. I am sure with what you have said we will put another plug in it.

Our ducks have been using our bath

Of course it gets a good scrubbing each time. They definitely poop way too much to even consider having them share a pool with the kids-however our above ground just got a new liner and is being filled as we speak. So the kids already have a place to swim.
