Juliette, your Seramas look SOOOO cool. Also, my parents have a place at Edisto, so I'm pretty familiar with the waters around Wadmalaw. I'm very jealous that you have cool chickens and you are near the coast! Just wanted to shout hello. And p.s., I'm TOTALLY grossed out by your roach trap, but I think I might need to try it. Dang cockroaches and fire ants in SC!

Feel free to stop in sometime when visiting Edisto, it'll only take a few minutes by boat!

Erik has been setting out more jars, and the cockroaches are a-coming! (And yes, they ARE disgusting! I try not to look in the jars!)

Moonchild, I just noticed that you grow blackberries. I have not had good luck with them and I love blackberries. The leaves curl and deform eventually affecting the entire stem and then the leaves brown and die. The plants have survived here three plus years but do not thrive. I have noticed some wild blackberries in the area that have a similar problem, but they do not seam to be bothered as much by it. I also noticed someone else in the area with the problem. I am suspecting a soil born virus spread by wild plants. Do you have any idea what this might be?

gjensen-My first blackberries are actually Black Raspberries(jewel)(I didn't know this til 3 years later) They grow on 2nd year growth and I built a box and filled it with fresh dirt and potting soil. and while i was researching it I found out that you should always plant black/rasp/berries atleast 30 feet away from wild ones. I keep the under growth clean(well actually my chickens keep the dirt scratched up but leave the plants alone, and the fruit is steaked up to high for them to get to, well I let them get the lower ones(as a treat lol) I am now growing triple crown blackberries they are thornless and aren't suppose to need to be steaked up(but we'll see) and next year I'll get fruit! Oh and I started using a little chicken poo in the box with the (jewel black raspberries) and they are REALLY doing great this year!!!! So my best advise is to research research reseach, cause I didn't and I wished I did cause I thought I would get fruit right away and well was dissapointed when I didn't. But I love them now and I get quarts and quarts and more quarts off of just a few plants that are in a 4x8 box!!!! oh and most people say to spread your plant atlest 5ft apart(well all my plants are i guess crowded in this box and they grow great) so alittle mistake was ok in my book!! Good luck and let me know how it goes! And I talked about chicken poo so I guess this is ok in this chat box haha

take Care Yancy aka moonchild!!!

And welcome to the SC thread!

Off to the PO to get my box of ducklings from Holderreads. I still haven't a clue where to put them but I did get rid of 48 roosters yesterday. I can now move birds around enough to make room for Saxony ducks!

WAHOO!! New SC members!!!

Hi from Moncks Corner!

I'm curious, has anyone ever seen a red sexlink that is a cross of a GLWD?

I swear my Little Red is a GLWD of some sort or is there another breed that looks a lot like them?
