I HAVE A CALL DUCK!

It hatched this morning.

6 went into lockdown . The one hatched. Others were peeping in shell but had not pipped.. Tonight they had all stopped peeping... and had not pipped. Opened one, then the others.........four had pipped membrane but never pipped shell & died. One had never even pipped & was dead in shell.

That would be the reason these are hard to hatch I guess....... ah well. Will try again

YES! It's my opinion that a proper farm ought to have some guineas.

. I do have plenty of eggs if you really decide you want them.
And great news on the millie eggs! They are usually very strong hatchers.

Guinea eggs are readily available right now, just let me know when you want some. My peafowl are laying but I'm not selling the eggs. I'm trying to hatch them all myself.

I only have 5, 3 peacocks and 2 peahens, I really NEED more....especially hens. I hatched successfully last year but couldn't get the chicks to survive. I must figure this out, it's a challenge for me. You could hatch chicken eggs with guinea eggs (I do it all the time), but the guineas take 28 days so the chickens will hatch first. Guineas grow a bit faster so it works out okay to keep them together in the brooder for a while. My polish crested are laying really well right now. Two of my cuckoo marans hens have decided to set. I hope I have some babies from them. They're very dedicated, sitting together and grumbling at me together when I mess with them.

Call ducks are the hardest birds to hatch for me. VERY difficult. Mine have such tiny little beaks, I helped them out of the shell or I don't think they would have made it. Congrats on the one!
