That Chickenstock looks so fun! Unfortunately my husband is leaving for Honduras on Friday (accepting safety prayers!) on a church mission trip and he won't be back until the following Sunday. Lincolnton is a little far for me to haul the kids to and then back. If he was in town though and I'd have some parental support, I'd try to talk him into it. Hope it's a blast!

I think we should start guessing now how many chickens the two of you will come home with and see who comes the closest.I'm sure there some great stories will be coming from that trip.

Somebody buy me a silkie and bring it back and I will reimburse them. XD I am not going. Can't do everything. Hubby wants to go to charleston this weekend. Got an anniversary coming up and 3 dog trials/shows around the corner as well as a litter expected the middle of next month. Can you say...omg!!

I know this may not be the appropriate thread for venting, BUT I value your SC opinions, and would like to see what you all think about this situation.....

The end of may I bought a quad of silkies described as
" I have a quad of gorgeous little cotton balls. Three pullets and a cockerial. These babes are 8 wks old and have all the right stuff. Each one has great crest, nice shredded wings, 5 toes with great spacing, beautiful foot feathering, dark skin, eyes and still havent filled in. None of my silkies are hatchery stock, all of my breeders are sq and have came from the top breeders in the US."

To my surprise, upon their arrival, one had a severely crossed/deformed beak. Pitiful looking!!

I immediately emailed the lady with my concerns. Her reply was, "she was n a hurry to ship out birds that day and it was an honest mistake." she offered to accept the bird back or send a replacement later.

Here's my problem.... I contacted the lady yesterday re a replacement silkie. She has a replacement, BUT I must pay the shipping. IS THIS FAIR???? I paid top dollar, asking price, and shipping. Should I really have to pay shipping AGAIN 4 her "honest mistake?"

Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks,
Nikki

No Nikki, it's not fair at all. I would try to get her to pay the shipping, but don't get your hopes up too much. My first Silkie experience was a bummer too. I paid top dollar too for four silkies. I didn't know anything about them at the time, but the breeder sold them to me as purebred and charged a really good price, plus I drove 60 miles. Guess what, when their waddles and combs came in, they were RED! They looked just like Silkies other than that. Plus they ended up being mean, not the Silkie character. I ended up giving away an expensive mistake/con job. I hope you get your replacement postpaid! Good luck.
