That's a great set up! Thank you for the pictures. Are the ropes for opening pop doors?
Yes, I use the ropes to open and close the pop doors. It has served me well for several years now but one rope is starting to fray so I need to replace it. I like this set up pretty well.

Burrrrr! I hope everyone is doing well out there this morning! It is so cold here this morning that I worry about all you up North! Anyone think it is going to be a cold winter?

What's it like up there? It froze here in Summerville, again. Hard even my tobacco plants were frozen.

YES, I THINK IT'S GOING TO BE COLD!!!!

It is just regular cold here at the foot of the mountains. I am used to it since I have lived here all my life. I keep sticks by the duck pools to break their ice in the mornings and have covered and wrapped a lot of the pens.
I do have one temporary pen that has a big dog crate attached but the 3 month old bantam Cochins prefer to roost out in the pen instead of inside the big crate that has deep clean shavings so I put a little PVC panel up beside the roost. It gets down to 20 here in the mornings and they are fine sitting there on a 2x2 roosting bar. I do have a piece of plywood over the top of the pen though. They are hardy little birds.

Here's a picture of my feathered sweeties. As the temperature drops, they all seem to be filling out into winter coats. Their big, fluffy butts crack me up!
