Nah, thank you though. The roosters saddle and hackle feathers are the best for fly tying.I only have one very old Silver Laced hen right now. You need some feathers?

SLW, They are kind of on my 'wanted list' so to speak. And I'm nearing coop completion. Need a good coat of paint, set the hinges and locks, Add nest box and roost bar. And vöila.
What type of SLW do you want? Show grade? Family flock?
Either. I'm only going to have a handful so they may as well be pretty! Lol
If you want feathers and eggs, I'd go with a hatchery. If you want to show, or just want to have the self satisfaction of knowing that you have SOP birds, order from a breeder. A friend of mine had hatchery SLW, then bought a trio from Foley. They were expensive, but the difference was amazing. Just remember that the chickens themselves are the cheapest part of keeping chickens. Knowing where you want to go with your flock is what will make your decision. I will say that I've sold hatchery bred chicks for a few years, and I always sell out, but when I started with a breeder quality flock, I have a 2 month waiting list for chicks
I think in the neighborhood of $100 would get a nice, young adult trio. If you are willing to spend that kind of money, maybe a little more, do some research on breeders. I've heard great things about Foley, and my friend's birds are stunningWhat could I look at spending for a decent show condition hen ? Or trio? I mean I know I could spend 400+ if my heart desired. But it doesn't lol.
