Hello all! I'm from Johnsonville SC! My husband and I are really enjoying all of our birds! I haven't been on here in a while, but we're really branching out and learning a lot. We raise quail, chickens, pigeons, and pheasants! Our chicken breeds are silkies, Wyandotte bantams, d'uccle bantams, Orphingtons, Jersey Giants, and Speckled Sussex! We're also raise ducks! I am so addicted to my birds!

Wow that's amazing! Do you sperate your bantams and LF or are they together? I have 12 chickens and I got 2 ducks almost 2 weeks ago :yiipchick They are adorable!!!

The bantams are separated. My husband is a wonderful coop builder. He builds them and I paint them. That's wonderful about your birds! What kind of ducks do you have? I'll try to post some pics this evening.

Did we all survive the rain?! The first week that my girls are in the coop full time and it pours buckets for two days! I was a nervous wreck. We seem to have made it unscathed. The coop did ok. It seems everything stayed dry for the most part. I had some wet straw in the nesting boxes but discovered a leak and I think the rest was just from wet feet after coming in from the run.

My poor girls were stuck in our house in their boxes for 2 days! We only have a run so far and no coop yet. I was working the first day so couldn't leave them out there alone yet. The second day I was home and by mid afternoon I decided to just let them out in the rain only to discover a small river flowing through part of the run. They didn't care one bit, matter of fact they went straight to that area and proceded to play in it!

Hey everyone, new here and hoping someone can help me. I am new to Edgefield, SC and would like to get some chickens. Can anyone from this area tell me if it is legal to have them Inside Town Limits? I cannot find zoning ordinances anywhere, and the town hall has been of no help. If anyone can help point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Careful South Carolinians, the snakes are coming out. My mom nearly stepped on this in the driveway a couple days ago!

Shouldn't be a problem, especially with hens. I live in Abbeville and swine are the only livestock prohibited within town limits. Stan Alder is very close to you and he raises top notch Ameraucanas.
