The uncertainty of buying a straight run of BLRW about 10 weeks ago has yielded me seven roos and one pullet! They are from Blue Poultry and look to be very nice. Was wondering if anyone in the vicinity of Aiken, SC/Augusta, GA wanted to trade a pullet or two? If so I can post some pics of the "guys".

AKsmama.... Welcome! I'm not too far from you. We are in Hodges and about 20 minutes from Honea Path. We bought our farm at the end of December, got a few silkies in January and now I have 60 chickens, 25 eggs in the incubator and 35 little pullets being delivered tomorrow. So prepare yourself! You'll do great. When I first got my silkies in the mail, I was afraid to take them out of the box. I had no idea what to do! Chickens are so fun. You'll love it! I have a little girl that's 5 and she adores her chickens! My 9-yr old son can tell you a lot about them. You'll be amazed how much your childen will learn. So great!

If you ever want to get together, let me know! You can come practice with my babies.

Hello everyone! I joined the forum Monday (or was it Tuesday). I am in the Jasper Co. area and I raise Standard Cochins and Guineas. Quite the combination but with the ticks and snakes around here the guineas are wonderful. If anyone is interested in any guinea keets or eggs let me know as I have several for sale. The guinea girls are about done laying for this season, or at least I hope. I don't find guinea eggs that tasty and I can't waste them so I put them in the incubator. We have just over 100 keets right now of different ages. Do you know how much 100 keets eat? My husband does and unforturnately this is not the season that people are buying keets. We just started raising Standard Cochins in the spring. We always had Game hens and a few RIRs but I had an unfortunate event with my Game roosters and decided to get something different to have around my daughter. I have never had such a mellow and wonderful chicken as the Cochins! Of course now I want some of every color. For some reason people think I am obsessed with my birds. There are others out there with the same problem right? I want to clarify that I do not have anywhere near as many cochins as guineas. And I do not have one of every color in either breed.

Hello everyone from Six Mile SeC.............one of my buff orpingtons hens has started hatching the eggs under her today. I put her in a cage to set on these eggs. Now I have a problem as to the rubber feed pan I used for a nest. She has hatched to chicks and has more under her. These two little one are out of the pan and I wonder if I should put them back in it with her. They can't climb back in, I wasn't thinking about that when I use that pan. Maybe I could just add some more shavings. Would that work. I don't want to make her mad LOL....maybe if the shavings are high enough they can climb back in

You could bring them in with a heat lamp? I use a 75 watt bulb for this time of year. If you need more infor. we be glad to help. They don't need water or food for a few days I always have water for them the first day anyway. Put food 24% by 2nd or 3rd day. Let me know what you do.

Hi ya'll,

Just popping in to say Hi and say that CL really worked for me over the Fourth weekend. I sold one really stunning green egg cuckoo rooster and gave away 3 Ameraucanas!
