GREER, S.C. -- An Greer teen said someone stole a rooster and hen from his backyard chicken farm.
"I've got around 40 or 50 chickens," said 14-year-old Will Uldrick. "I haven't really counted lately."
Uldrick said he and his father saw two people break into their fenced-in yard over the weekend and then saw them run away. He said they did not realize the fowl were missing until their rooster didn't do his usual early morning crowing.
"We suspect someone just comes up and down this road regularly, saw the roosters at the road and just decided one night to go and take them," Uldrick said.
Uldrick said he is not sure why someone would want their birds, but he'd like to see them returned.
The birds are valued at more than $1,000, Uldrick said.
Anyone with information about the missing birds was asked to call Greenville County Crime Stoppers at 23-CRIME.
My 10-yr old son was like, "What chicken is worth that much?" Exactly....
