Hi pinkwindsong, If you were at Cassidy Bridge you were only eight miles from me. That area had an old CCC camp back in the Hover days. I have good Friends at the Oconee State park just up the Hwy. You should drop in and say hello to the park manager Joann. She's a great person and vey friendly. The park has primative, camper and cabbins with a little store and a barn they hold square dancing in on Fridays or maybe Saturdays. Long pass my dancing days so it's been some time since I have been to the dance. They have Hillbilly music for free just behind my house at the community center on some weekends as well and worth swinging by on a Friday or Saturday to see if they are "a picking" it's free also. Hello huckleberryfarm. MY friends from down there is actually over by Abbeville but most people know of Greenwood and not abbeville. One of the people I know well is the officer that was shoot about six months ago. He's doing much better now by the way so no one has to worry, he's still with us. Thanks for the welcome. Donald

My PM didnt seem to work earlier. My Ameraucana roo is nine weeks old and came from Susanna at Huckleberry Farm. Lou Ann just wants to keep her neighbors happy so would like to rehome him. He is free and we could meet you halfway somewhere if you are interested.

Oh no, Don. I do not want or need any more roosters!

I started counting them last night and stopped when I got to 52. It was too much of me to think about.

Now that did not include my breeder or flock roos, that is only the roos that need to GO!
Many will go in the freezer Labor Day. I have made my DH plan for that day. His health is not very good and I am hoping he will be stronger by then. He is on new meds and is much better this week than he has been all summer but still has to go back for more tests after this round of medication. We don't have Ins. and they are wanting to put him in the hospital for tests, scans and catheters. Ugh. He is stubborn and won't do it.

Labor Day is usually a cool day and I invite anyone that wants to see how we butcher ours to come. Just please don't barf in the yard!

I have a few folks from Williams coming to watch, as well. I think we can do 9 in an hour without taking off our own skin. I am going to try and get DH to do about 20, if possible.

Do you know, I only have 2 EE girls left? And only one Olive Egger that is laying age. I have girls growing up that I have not sold and do not plan to until I see egg color. I can't seem to hang on to what I need for future breeding programs.

I know your running low on your EE's I had no idea so many people liked them , everytime you get a few built up you sell out again..

Well oh my gosh Ive gone and done it again...

the kids are getting 40 broiler chicks on the 1st of sept. I must be a gluten for punishment haha.. cause you know they'll be fed by you know who.. but its a good deal through 4-h its 40 birds at $2 a piece including processing.. they will keep a record book and it counts towards their school work. still need the birds for their what will be their on going science project . the 4-h kids will be having a auction after their pullet show in Abbyville in sept. hoping to get some more girls there for eggs.. i tell ya if anyone had told me last year that I would be this addicted to chickens I'd have laughed at them,, but shoot like just a few min ago. I went out to spend time with the new polish who are so skittery, and my teens.. just to sit and have one of them sit on my lap getting petted. is so nice. and calming,,

I love my chickens and all my chicken friends..

speaking of your boys.. Midas.. oooh wee, he's getting pretty ..getting all his long saddle feathers and collar feathers. He and the new little bantam polish are having evening crow offs.. they have these high voices and then he runnbles his.. soo funny . its like "Marco- -- polo" in chicken.
