Hi John,

So sorry I didn't get to meet you and the pretty mama to be at the Chickenstock. My heart was set on coming, and all I can say if life happens sometimes, especially if you have older teens!

I'm so glad you guys had a great turnout, maybe next one in the spring.

Hello. It's okay, you'll def have to make it to the spring fling!
big_smile.png
But you're def right...life happens! I meant to put this in my prev post--> my job wants me to go to Afghanistan for 3 months!! I def don't WANT to go, but I will if i absolutely HAVE to. If I do go, they will triple my salary for those 3 months, so it will provide a very nice nest egg, no pun intended

, for when the baby gets here in June.

Whoa, hope you don't have to go! But keep us updated. Three months is a long time but at least it will be before the baby is born (I'm assuming).

Amy when spring rolls around and the girls are laying again, I plan to cross him over that beautiful dark blue mottled hen I got from you. Should produce both blue mottled and splash mottleds.....maybe I'll end up with a son worthy of replacing him at your place

that blue mottled girl has amazing type so a son out of her would be better than cowboy.....

I had a customer email me yesterday and said none of his Wheaten Marans eggs hatched and none were fertile. I had a customer the day before hatch 7 of 12... same coop's eggs. I know I'm hatching like crazy here. So I don't know what happened.... shipping, incubation, whatever. I usually offer to ship new eggs if they pay for shipping and if I have them. Depends on how the customer approaches me. I also do not refund money. No way. I've been on the end of nothing hatching. Just a chance you take.

I wonder if it is just someone new to silkies and are still learning or something.

These are a couple of quotes from her. May be new to silkies. I did not take her up on her offer since I did not want to add any more money to this.

"we’ve been raising poultry for over 50 years"

"I know my Buffs came from a guy who shows and he bought his breeders at Nationals 2 years ago. I did take them out of the buff pen a week ago after I found a really nice red rooster to put on them. So if you would like to try to hatch some of the buffs I will be happy to send you 6 free you just pay shipping."

Just a knucklehead. What does she mean, she put them with a red rooster? A red silkie rooster? CLUELESS!

Susanne or Kimberly - what do you call the color of the silkie in the second picture? I have 2 like that and I'm not sure what to call them. Blue?

Both of Susanne's pictures were Splash

The top is a white-based Splash and the bottom is a blue-based Splash. That's how I've heard it described. Both are Splash.

That is the way I hear it when discussing breeding, etc etc..........basically just the top one has more of a white toned base than blue toned base
