Thanks...Susanne said he decided to take the bottle again...but if he stops I hope I can help...I just hate knowing a baby like that needs help and I have experience with it...I know fur WAY better than feathers! Glad the family is doing well! I really enjoyed meeting you sons and the boys! They were cuties so I know she is too!!

hey samantha this has been one of those weekends around here.the more i do the behinder i get. my grandaughter and her mom is doing just great the babys grandmother on her moms side is visiting for the first time in eight yrs.so i have not seen them as much as i would like i thought i would let her bond with her three grandchildren she will be going back home later this week.then i can make up lost time.i woke up to chirping this morning. i think you would do great with the lamb, tube feeding one

Good Morning. Well we worked on fence this weekend, seems like an endless chore. We also found the outside guinea nest. Took 5 of the eggs and put them in the incubator. Left 4. Hmm phoneman, will keep in mind that we should use a spoon instead of our hands to remove the eggs, if they move the nest.

Sounds like everyone had a busy weekend. Susanne hope the lambs are improving. I can only imagine watching the house go up. It wont be long before you are in there.

Amy, no doubt, the show birds are more work and it is the raising of them that make them as show birds. Of course they must have the conformation to the standard first, but then the work begins. I am sure you will do fine once you start showing.

Lauren, glad you are getting a couple of days off. It seems the weekend is over to fast here. We need 3 day weekends.

Hope all the homes that have lost birds are back to normal and no more losses.

Have a great day.

Ahhh Fence...that was our project 2 weeks ago...worth it though!!

I am so excited as he was one I bred and this is an APA show! How awesome that another one of mine has done well in a show. It always makes me happy to see that. I feel like I am doing something right, even if for my own pleasure.

Good to know! Never thought about that. Cole found 45 eggs yesterday!

on the finding the guineas nest next time do not put your hands in the nest. use a long handle spoon to rmove the eggs and i think that will work fo you at least that has been told to me from old timers and mean old timers because i am close to 68 yrs old myself

My little lamb was up and eating feed yesterday and grazing. We were so happy. Sadly this morning, he was near death. He didn't have any ears and I'm thinking the mama let him go because he wasn't right. We tried though. He passed late this morning. Right afterwards, we heard the donkeys braying up a storm and ran out to the pasture to find... a new baby donkey! I just saw the mom yesterday and she didn't really look pregnant. Who knew? Not us! So we lost one, we gained one. It's cute as a button. Chickens are all doing well. No more deaths! We have four polish babies left out of 20. That was a huge disappointment. All the house pieces are here! I just got to go see my kitchen. I love it! I have a plate rack, glass front cabinets, a drawer with a cutting board and knife storage. It's going to be so nice once to granite and old wood top for my island are in and my copper sinks! I'm so happy to be settling forever on the farm.

Ok Guys and Gals...we have settled it...there will be a swap meet at the TSC in Laurens on April 21st 9-11! We welcome all poultry for you to come buy/sell/swap. We are working on a show event. It will not be an APA satndard show but instead a peoples choice vote and open to all breeds and mixes...this lets us show off our pretties that may not be a pure bird yet still be amazing!!

Help!!
I got 3 laying hens last week. They are each approx 1 yr old. My SLW just seems a bit off to me. I noticed her eyes seem watery with little air bubbles. She is eating, drinking, scratching and pooing but just mostly stays to herself and cant be tempted with treats. I finally got my hands on her at roosting time tonight. She was not impressed. I saw no infection. Maybe it's the breed. IDK. She has a bunch of golden feathers mixed with her white. She has laid no eggs.

The other two are settling in well. We got one egg out of the BA and 2 out of the BCM.

Any ideas?

I am sorry about your lamb. But what a wonderful surprise the birth of the baby donkey was!
