oh is that partridge...here's another pic of the same chick. I thought it was scattered barring. But I guess mom could have been the red partridge EE.

Wait Hold on...the other chick and this chick in the middle are different chicks. I have two that look just a like. and two that look like that may be BlkJg's....Oh how they grow...This is the one with the once odd spot on the side of the head.

Love the new hen...Color (no clue) But she's a cutie! I'm so sure she found a great new home!!!

Well I sit here enjoying Idiot stew over creamed taters and wondering just what to do with the new hen I recieved today...by her choice!! Went out today to find a game hen hanging in the backyard!! I need help with her color? and I just have to post a pic of the new improved Idiot!! John did a good job on his first roo butcher...and he is yummy!!

Thanks...I think she is BBRed? I am sure someone will get on who will know! She is a stout lil bird...gave me a fit and was very upset until I put her near the BLRW coop she was hanging near...she is in love with Gus...I really need to quarantine here but she was freaking out!! She is bug free...solid and thick...good poo...no wheezing...and eating well??And she had already been face to face with that coop...I hope I do not regret it!

I think you are right on the BBRed for your hens color. I can not see her chest but she has about the same coloring as my OEGB BBReds.... She is very pretty for a stray--nice find! Or I guess she found you....

Yup, looks like from a barred mom to me. Red would have expressed on the throat (if a girl, hackles if a boy) if it carried the red gene.

I am just so glad you got girls in this hatch!
Love the one on the right!

I would borrow your horse, But I think she would be unhappy in my little yard, she would probably break down my fence. And knowing that dog, he wouldn't even come over because the horse is there. He is sneaky that way. He only comes over when no one is home, when my dogs are locked in the house. I saw he was digging a new hole yesterday, hopefully my barricade holds up on my side. I just wish my neighbors weren't so inconsiderate/uncaring/lazy/inattentive/(choose the word that best fits, there are a lot of them, some more colorful than others.)

Oh Trixie...hate to hear the dog troubles...wanna borrow my horse? she stomps dogs...ooops!! I had a friends who dog came down with her kids...he is no harm but wanted to see the horse...I warned her and she said CJ would be fine...he is still limping weeks later and won't come on the property! I really wish I could help somehow seriously! The bad thing is those dogs are usually smart enough to be sure you are not home when they commit crimes....

And I really hope you make it!! I am sure there will be several deals arranged that day!!

Amy,

IF you don't have any meal worms or runner ducklings for me yet then I can wait. No big deal. I am patient. :)

Patsy,
don't think Rebel meant any harm either but still gotta keep an eye on her. It seems she likes to manhandle the larger birds with feathers cause she doesn't even try with the silkies or with the chicks... As for the duckling, she seems to be doing fine. she came right out of her kennel yesterday and I tried to let her play in the sink but she kept hopping out, she just wouldn't have it. I opened the back door and she made a beeline for the coop. She misses her feathered friends. I considered leaving her out with them but the other ducks were nibbling a bit at her backside and i didn't want nibbling to become something more/worse. So she is still inside until she heals up a bit more.

pics probably this afternoon, I should be home for enough time to get them posted. :)

Davaroo,

My country neighbors should be good. I haven't met them all yet but, I have heard things so I am optimistic. One of them has goats and white geese and another does their own farming in a little one acre plot of their land. I think its going to be really great. We will see I am excited to start moving even though it is a few months away still.

She might be a little light now looking at my BBReds. She might be a Wheaten. I will let you compare....
