Tomorrow is the official hatch date. and so far all but 18 of the 60 egg set of my RIR's have hatched and I have not candled.
I seriously doubt that all 18 of the 60 left are even fertile.
11 of the 18 eggs I have set for a friend of mine set at the same time have also hatched. ( I did not candle those either and one set is notorious for non fertile eggs )
I am curious to see what the hatch rate is going to finalize at. then I am going to candle whats left.

Robert, is there a fuzzzzy butt hatcher therapy session close to the upstate?
NO, I do not need therapy for that. I need a financial advisor.

Hi, I'm Robert and I am a hatchaholic,
but that is not my problem.
I'm broke and feeding a ton of starter/grower a week and can not figure out where my money is going.

Incidental yes I am also a Robert.

My new girl tells me " It costs a lot to look this cute " so I need to do something. I don't know if she can hold up long enough for me to sell layers in the spring.

All you need to do is find a hatchaholic within an hour from you. that feeds a ton of starter / grower a month and you can build your coop and load it up with chickens that will start laying withing a week or two instead of waiting 5 months or so for your first egg. of course. you still have to buy the feed for that time. but it is already in the birds.
hint hint

Yes I've been a beekeeper for about 10 years. I have had as many as 100+ hives. Probably have 45 now. I was planning to cut down to 25-35 this year. Still got a ways to go.

I am sure you have found out how fascinating bees are. I started with 4 the first year and it grew and grew.
I wanted to post a litte HAHA here on you wanting to cut back but your Bear attack last fall/winter that you posted pictures of came to mind and I just could not laugh then...I still hate that happened to you!!! You have wonderful honey! I still have a smidgeon left out of what Samantha got me from you! It is/was your yummy creamed honey! WONDERFUL!!!

White Crested Black Polish Rooster for sale. He is a very good rooster to his hens. He is gentle. In the pics his crest is dirty...and the second pic looks like he has brown tipping on his tail feathers - but he does NOT...He has a wonderful irridescent sheen to him...sorry for the bad pics. He is about 1 1/2 to 2 years old. Asking $20 for him.

White Crested Black Polish juveniles...one is definitely a young cockerel but the other I am not sure. It has a suspiciously cockerel looking crest but hardly no tail compared to it's hatchmate...Approximately 2 months old...asking $5 each:

Last commercial...I promise!!! Just a couple of GREAT ones I have from my mini-flock...LOL...
Pair of Light Sussex pullet/cockerel hatched mid-April. NOT hatchery stock!!! Asking $40 for the pair:

You know I can't wait to get my hands on that little boy! I seldom get to hold human babies. Mostly they are furred or feathered. LOL

It is a professional photographer coming in so I doubt I will see the photos for a while. But when I get some I will be sure to share. I can just imagine what this will be like. Ducklings are not always easy to deal with. LOL I am sure Witt will be good as gold.

You may be surprised. She will probably have. Couple ready for Jackiemto see and share in a few days to a week. The digital world of photography is wonderful! Can't wait to see these!

I guess my two Buff Orp's have recently come down with Fowl Pox... I don't see any symptoms in my silkies or my Barred Rock. Everyone is eating fine and seem healthy. Just the two Buff Orps have the scabby looking things on their combs and wattles...

Is there anything I can do to cure them or are they a lost cause? Is it too late to vaccinate the rest?

On another side of things. My Muscoveys haven't been sharing a pen with them at all since beginning of June... But it seems that I am having problems with them sooner than anticipated. One of the males (Howard) has claimed the two females and keeps chasing my other male (Max, my favorite) away. Howard and the two females are from the same clutch. Max shares a father with the females but had a different mother. What is the best plan of action? I was thinking I would find a new home for Howard and let Max take over. Or should I be thinking in a different direction? I don't really want to increase the flock size at this time though, I would like to keep the flock down to 3-5 ducks for now. They have run of the property let alone the neighborhood, I don't want to overrun things yet.

If my plan of action is sound, anybody interested in a beautiful Muscovy male?
