I don't leave messages on my answering machine for this reason...Sometimes when i'm on speaker phone with DH and I hear the echo I think - God I sound ridiculous!
Ok this morning Sharon decided she wanted elderberry waffles for breakfast, she was looking thru the cabinet and asked where the waffle iron was. With out missing a beat I said it was under the pistol case.
Which brings up 2 questions
Is having a gun in the kitchen considered southern or redneck?
I disconnected my onstar a few years back because I would have to repeat myself so much.
Has anyone ever heard of white on rice. Like if someones likes something a lot you would say
"he was on that like white on rice". OH, another one a friend of my DH's says is "I'm like a mess of collards, come on and get ya some". He's a little crazy!!!
Have you ever heard of "hanging in there like a hair in a biscuit?"
This one's not food related, but another funny one I just thought of is, "I've been as busy as a one-legged man in a butt kicking contest." (Or it's often said using the a word, but I wanted to keep out the profanity.)
I have been enjoying this thread and have to confess something.
My husband and I both grew up in the suburbs of Indianapolis. While on vacation in Vermont several years ago, the proprietor of a store asked my husband where he was from. He then turned to me and said, "You're from the South, aren't you?". DH loves to remind me of that. I admit to using most of the phrases here.
