scbatz33, pole cat is a slang term for a skunk.

My dad is just as Southern and "country" as they come and he drinks unsweet tea. I didn't realize until I was grown that sweet tea is a Southern thing. All the restaurants here serve it. I don't know what I'd drink if I ate at a restaurant up North that didn't offer sweet tea.

I guess I'd have to order a "Coke" (meaning any kind of carbonated drink if you live in the South.) If you go to someone's house around here and they ask you if you want a Coke, the next question will be, "What kind? We have Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, Root Beer, etc."

Pepsi was invented in NC-- North Carolina is in the south==It's fightin' words to say it's not Southern!


Crack the window--open it a little bit or a crack

turn on the light (if you are cooking) = turn the front or back burner on

Tea --comes in a LARGE glass, with lots of ice and it is sweet----(sometimes -they ask if you want lemon)--it is served this way because we want you to stay and sip on it for a while, so we can chat!

Nabs are little square crackers with peanutbuter or cheese and wrapped in paper and they must be made by Lance..Not Tom's (Unless you are from GA). Nabs and Pepsi for break..

Of course there are pacons (pecans), tamados (tomatoes), pa-tados (potatoes), okrha (okra), Peas---are NOT those little green (china berry looking things), they are blackeye, field peas or crowders...

washing powders: it doesn't matter if it's liquid or not --goes in the washing machine--to wash clothes

My SIL was talking about eating chicken one time and she was telling me that she liked to eat the preachers nose. I had never heard of this, so I asked her what it was and she informed me that it is where the chickens tail feathers were. She said when she was little their Grandmother would cut it off and fry it for her. Now every time I cut up a chicken, I think about that preachers nose, lol.

Edited to say...
I think I started that conversation talking about eating the tails off of fried White Perch. Ever tried that???

I myself born and raised in Ga HATE sweet tea!
To me it tastes like wrung out gym socks...
