Michelle, I was so happy to know your hen went to a great home. I bet you are relieved too! She was really beautiful, prettiest brown Leghorn I've ever seen, so was your Buff Orp! Best of luck with your new Black Orp! The Sussex pullet I got from Patty at the last meet is just a wonderful beautiful, healthy sweet girl. Patty does a great job with chickens, I bet you black Orp will be gorgeous!

THANK YOU Joey and Kate!!!

I really feel like I got a wealth of information today, and I'm excited for the show!! I appreciate your tips, and all the literature, and printouts that you provided. I will be entering my two little 'junior' birds in the 'junior' division... I know my birds are kind of young for this kind of competition, but the participation and experience makes it worthwhile to me! My daughters are excited about showing them, and I'm sure they will get lots of extra practice over the next two weeks!

Kate- your birds are really beautiful. I loved your mottled hen today. For some reason, I am stuck on black and white right now, and she was

Joey- my sandwich and coffee was awesome! Thank you so much! I think I am going to want cilantro on all my sandwiches from now on. I have better start seeding the garden! And I sure hope my Gordon grows up to be as handsome as your Whitii. You sure do a GREAT job with your birds. I will be soliciting your advice on a hen, when my roo is a bit more developed, so that we can pick one with the right traits!

Bill (I hope I got your name right, and I think you're on BYC aren't you?? ) I apologize for my little pullet's actions with your pretty creamy red hen... LOL. Hedwig is quite the Diva, and just doesn't know how to share the spotlight! However, your hen did get her to stand up nice and straight!! LOL. Maybe you could send me a picture of your hen to put in front of mine for tabletop practice??

She's sort of a slouchy teenager at home..

Glenn- I can't WAIT for coffee in the morning. DH was VERY happy with the 3 bags of coffee I brought home, and even more happy that they weren't attached to any new chickens.

Patty- It was great seeing you again. I so LOVE my little Light Sussex I got from you at the last meet. I should have named her Charmin... as I just want to hug her and squeeze her every time I see her!! She is so fluffy and beautiful!

Dennis- Nice seeing you again too! I can't wait to see your first chickies!! Can you post pics of the hens that you bought? I'd love to see what you're pairing with "DD". He was such a handsome lil guy!!

Froggie- Your little flock is so cute! I'm really happy to see you enjoying them as much as you do. Yes, having multiple boys is a bit difficult... I have a "barbershop quartet" each morning- 2 OEGB, 1 Serama, 1 Phoenix, and I know all their little voices! My roos are all tiny except for one GINORMOUS baby blue cochin, but he's too young to crow... He'll be my baritone when he grows up. LOL. I just may start training them! I think with some practice we might be some competition for those barking dogs in their "Jingle Bells" rendition this Christmas! How did I end up with 5 roos again??

FarmerBoy- I don't think I've actually met you yet, but you were there? Red hair? I need to make a point of introducing myself next time. I really like putting faces with names.

Shuizar- Ditto for you! I think you were there too, right? I saw that Chef Glenn had some (what looked like) lav Orp chicks, I'm assuming they came from you? I know you had some ADORABLE babies last meet. You got Michelle's Leghorn, right? I hope I don't have you confused with someone else..

Jacob- It was our pleasure having you along with us today. I hope your new chickies do great! And if Pecan ever gets lonely.... I'm sure Gordon will be happy to keep her company for a while.

No, no chance of cross breeding. Chef Glen came over to see my breeding pens today. Ask him if he thinks there is any chance of cross mating in my setup. There are some recessive genes in the flock that I don't understand. Some weird dilute, that is recessive, and something that makes the black barring sorta brownish chocolate dun grey color that I have not seen before. That, plus you might get some single combs, and some non barred birds from my olive egger pen too. This year is a year to breed for better type, rather than perfect barring. Plus, I only have one rooster that I can use in that pen, so that is what I'm going with.
