Southern CA Swap meet-up / Funday!

Thank you so much to everyone for today! It was a pleasure meeting you all and learning so much. Everyone was so helpful and friendly.

It was hard to say goodbye to my leghorn beauty, but I am confident she will have a great home with Shuizar (Sabrina). And our new sweet little black orp from Patti is sleeping peacefully in the coop with my big buff orp, so things are going well!

Looking forward to seeing you all again : )

Michelle, I was so happy to know your hen went to a great home. I bet you are relieved too! She was really beautiful, prettiest brown Leghorn I've ever seen, so was your Buff Orp! Best of luck with your new Black Orp! The Sussex pullet I got from Patty at the last meet is just a wonderful beautiful, healthy sweet girl. Patty does a great job with chickens, I bet you black Orp will be gorgeous!

No, no chance of cross breeding. Chef Glen came over to see my breeding pens today. Ask him if he thinks there is any chance of cross mating in my setup. There are some recessive genes in the flock that I don't understand. Some weird dilute, that is recessive, and something that makes the black barring sorta brownish chocolate dun grey color that I have not seen before. That, plus you might get some single combs, and some non barred birds from my olive egger pen too. This year is a year to breed for better type, rather than perfect barring. Plus, I only have one rooster that I can use in that pen, so that is what I'm going with.

Ok, just wanted to know. How old are the eggs I got from you today?

I clear out all eggs every weekend. Every egg you get from me is from the current week. I don't write on every egg the day it was laid. I just collect every week, and on weekends, boil up everything left over and feed it back to the animals.

Alright, thats a good idea to boil it and feed it back to them.

Hi guys!

Yep, I was there today and Patty has an incredible breeding situation, I learned a bunch the short time I was there!
I was looking at my flock this morning wondering how I can more effectively separate them better.
Patty, thanks so much for the tour and time you spent with me. I can't wait to get a pair of your birds!!
Wish I could have stayed longer.

Glenn

Good Morning Everyone!

Joey, Joey, Joey, Thanks so much for the iced coffee and sandwiches, and MANJU, who knew??
You are a very kind and generous fellow!
Kate thank you and Joey for putting this together, I learned a lot just listening to you guys.
I don't know if I will be "presenting any of my birds at the Serama show in Ramona,
but I will for sure be there!

Chuizar, I didn't get a chance to say goodbye and to thank you again for the Orpingtons.
I really appreciate your kindness.
You definitely have more coffee coming your way! I picked up some KILLER Kenya after the show and it
is out of this world! I am will roast some up for you, will you be coming to Ramona? PM sent.

It was so nice seeing everyone and meeting new people, I just wish I could remember all of your names.
Well now that it looks like I will be "retiring" in July, I get to change my on line name!
This came as a blessing in disguise! I will be able to spend much more time with my birds, I actually enjoy their
company more than humans, (EXCEPTING of course, all of you wonderful chicken people!

Thanks Again Everyone!
Glenn
