HEY GUYS! Oops, all caps -

I've been busy (shocker) so I can't even pretend i have time to catch up with all the stuff I've missed, but what you've all missed is that the girls are settling in extra well to their new homes. So well in fact that I've been asked to find a third hen to go with the bantams. After all, they have three grandchildren, so they need three! Lol. I will be at Sussex (OH I WILL BE THERE!!!) - does anyone have a sweet silkie to sell to me? I can assure you she will be well cared for. Obviously I can hope that someone brings some there to sell but if any of you have a sweetheart that would get along with a sassy Sebright and a scaredy cat D'Uccle that would be great.

Can't wait to see everyone on the 18th!!

Heather

Silkie pullets are hard to come by. I have a bunch of Silkie/ Serama crosses.
They have the hairdo, but can still see so they don't act so dopey.
No charge for you...

Well the juveniles camped out last night. I set up the Egglu for them . Who knows whether they will stay out of the rain once I open the door.they have been having such a blast outside. Hours just slip away while I watch them No wonder I don't get anything done.
I've named the cream Brabanter "Bedhead" and the frizzle " Firecracker". I still haven't named the other ones yet. I'm nervous the Salmon Faverolle is a roo, and I'll have to give him away.

Oh that cross sounds awesome! Thank you CFG! :) I will have to tell her grandkids the story of where they came from, of course. I think that is perfect, since hopefully she won't be as broody.

Cool, see you then!

I'll send estrogen vibes. I am always so afraid of getting attached to a too, then having to give him away. I had a nightmare that all of my silkies started crowing.

So, I was woken up by clucking chickens this morning. Apparently there must have been a mouse either inside the henhouse or outside it. All the girls were sitting ON the external nestboxes, and on perches I put in the pen but they rarely use. When I ran outside, they looked mighty relieved like "Oh thank goodness you're here!" and they stopped bagawking. But-as soon as I turned to go back inside, they started again like "Aren't you going to do SOMETHING??"

I went into the pen and kicked the hay around, then left. Apparently I must have done something right. All is quiet.

Yesterday I got most of my tomatoes planted in my new garden boxes, next I have to get the cukes, beans, eggplants and peas in the other box. Danny is going to build me another box for my spinach, Kale, Collards, and Swiss chard. Oh I'm getting so happy with all these places to plant!!

SPRING IS HERE!!! YAY!!

Hi everyone, well my shipped cochin eggs haven't arrived as of yet and will not until probably Monday. Hope the jerk from Bethpage hasn't gotten his hands on them. :( Guess one should always pay for express shipping when getting eggs shipped and hope to hell no one messes with them.

Eggs arrived but 2 were cracked and a few were wet from the cracked eggs. What do you think my chances are of any hatching?

Rosie, your story is so funny! Thank goodness you were there to kick the hay around to soothe their worried begawking about the mousie!

What an adorable crew you have!

Heather, is your scaredy-cat D'uccle able to be handled? The Sebright and D'uccle in your avatar are adorable! What sweeties!

I hope you find the mellow, friendly, easy-to-get-along-with Silkie of your dreams.

Man are things looking good in the gardens. Did some weeding, transplanting and fertilizing all before 7am . Need to thin my collards, kale , mustard and arugala when it dries out alittle. people passing by must think I've lost my mind doing all that in the rain. I just can't be in the house . From now until the snow flys I'll be outside.
Gonna have nice salad from the garden tonight.

Mags how's the grand baby?
