Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

I have a utility sink outside that I use for the waterers.
A lot of them have been getting hosed off in there.
I have one girl, her new thing is she screams like a cow.
It's bad enough I worry about the crowing, but THIS noise is just crazy!
And then there's Peri....

too funny.........but not.

Doing well!  My biggest problem is my girls want to name the meat birds.  I have a question... With the heat outside how long with the heat lamp?  I should be able to reduce the amount sooner right?  I was hoping to put the meat birds outside at 3 or 4 weeks.

Morning Bryan, I agree with Mags, my latest babies I took the heat off early and used a light at the one end of the tub. I just watched them closely .i put them outside at the start of their 4th week under a shade tree in a wire dog crate.they loved it. I brought them in at night. Good luck

Roberta , I'm sorry for your loss. Keeping up with this heat and them is a full time job.
One of my little bantams I got this spring screams like something out of the jungle.i even call her Tarzan. Truely sounds like your in a rain forest when you step into my back yard and there's nothing I can do to quite her once she gets started.well there is , But...

Helped my friend Tony put an air conditioner in yesterday. It was In my bedroom which is just a finished attic. I thought I was going to die. Between back surgery and rotator cuff tears it was not a good idea.

Someone on BYC has several exotic south American breeds. Do you think it is too hot to get eggs and put them under my broody? I know, what am I thinking I already have 21. Well 6 if you have Suzanne do the math for you.

Has anyone heard from Suzanne?

Try and stay cool today everyone.

Oh Roberta, I'm sorry about Necklace! Poor thing. They really do pick up everything, the little buggers.

I'm also trying hard not to laugh about Peri's crowing.

He'll get better, and hopefully produce some really pretty babies?

Last night it rained a bit in the late afternoon, then the fog was UNBELIEVABLE!! This morning it's cloudy, and supposed to clear up by 10, then back to thunderstorms by 4-5. I can deal with that, but I also got a RED alert for rip currents. UGH. Nothing scares me more, even though I've taught and taught the kids what to do, I still quake with fear at the sight of them.

We play baseball this morning (I just can't get enough-my two younger sons play in the 7-12 game then me, and my 14 year old will play in the adult game later at 6:30. ) My husband thinks I'm crazy, but it's fun and drives the old men nuts that a girl can play.

.
Well yesterday my girlfriend and I were discussing getting turkeys. She has 1 little rescue chick driving her crazy but she doesn't have anything small enough to house it with and it wants company. Soooooo.......we might drive to Lakewood where the guy has some blue slates and eastern peeps. I keep telling myself NO..NO but you know the drill. Whats 2 more big mouths to feed?

My SFH just laid her first little blue egg! it's a silkie size egg but sure is blue. She is 17 week old so they do start pretty early.

Why am I having problems uploading pic this week to this site?

Hi all. I'm sad. My sister and niece went back to tucson today after a 3 week stay :(
My baby chicks are doing well. One of my CL, a girl I named little bit, is so small. She is 1/2 the size of the other 2. I'm worried about her. I have her inside with my one blue Ameraucana chick that's a week younger than her and already bigger. She does eat. I hand feed her scrambled eggs and stuff trying to fatten her up.
Going to get 8lbs of cucumbers from my farm CSA today to make pickles. Never made them before but figured I give it a try.
