Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Hi, everyone.

I was just contacted out of the blue by a young woman by the name of Elvire who got my name from the web as someone who keeps chickens. Her company bought her a hen to use in a film project. The project is over and now she needs to find a good home for this hen. Elvire and the chicken are in Brooklyn. Could you please phone her and see if you can take the chicken off her hands or at least direct her further. Elvire has a car and says she'll be happy to drive the chicken to you.
At my suggestion just now, Elvire has joined BYC.com and her member name is chickengiver. Her email address is [email protected] or you can call her on her cell phone at 347 688-2802. She emailed a photo of the chicken to me and I've attached it here to this posting. Not sure of the breed, but she looks lovely. (If you know where she can get some poultry feed in or near Brooklyn, please let her know. I suggested that she feed it some scrambled eggs, and cheese and yogurt, and sunflower seeds and romaine lettuce until she can find some actual chicken feed.)

Several byc members from Brooklyn have sent me private messages saying that they'll contact Elvire and possibly take the chicken. She'll be SO happy for it to go to a good home. She was worried when she spoke with me. Afraid that it would end up as someone's dinner. I reassured her.

Carolyn, Vera is starting a frizzled Polish breeding program, and we DO vaccinate for Mareks!
She has a few hatchery Polish (non-frizzled) that she is looking to sell.... let me know.
I haven't been getting notices, so I haven't logged on in a while. Gotta look into this.

Stay sane throughout the holidaze everyone!

I would be very interested in maybe 4 of them in the spring.

Well I booked my room for the New England poultry congress. If its bad weather I can cancel up to 6 that night. Should be incredible since this year the nationals are being held there. If I could only bring birds home with me.

It's great that they let you cancel that close! I'm SO wishing I could go.

Temptations are terrible, aren't they? For a brief second it seems like SUCH a good idea...then reality strikes. Danny doesn't care how many chickens I get, he just doesn't like the babies inside.

Even I have no idea what breed. Sorry. She does seem similar to the Cream Legbars that I just transported for Toxic and Jerseyhen.

The Northeast Poultry Congress is Jan 18-19 at the Big E in Springfield, Mass.
I stay at the Red Roof In W Springfield. It's one of the motels that you can sneak birds into the room.
Not that I would do that....

Tina, the room has two queen size beds so it can accommodate 4 chicken ladies. 5 if we put a cot in it. Right now Loretta is going with me. It's on the conceirge level ( we get breakfast and horderves in the evening) . We will have a nice time. It's my birthday weekend . The room is paid for , unless there's terrible weather I'm going , you're welcome to jump on board. I even have enough room in the back of the car if chickens decide to follow us home. Last year both Lorretta and I bought chickens last year, I kept mine in the bathroom and she kept hers in the closet overnight.
