Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Sorry your news wasn't better Al. Hoping whatever the problem it, that it is quickly resolved. It's so darn stressfull for us humans when our buddies come down sick and can't speak for themselves.

Rich and Maggie, thank you. It is tough and I am trying not to let it get to me. This has been one of those times when it all hits at once.

Chris got the coop about 95% wired. Tomorrow it gets connected. Got in the heater base for the coop waterer. The thing is huge. 125 watts, and it comes on at 35 degrees. Might even add a little warmth to the coop, too. Another project close to completion.

Morning all. It's a sweltering 27 degrees up here in the north country.

Won't be long before were back wearing shorts.

Im glad we got the electricity almost done in the shed. The water will be freezing up in there real soon. The girls don't seem to mind the cold, so far.

On my second cup of coffee and feeling pretty good today. Hope you all are feeling great today, and ready to enjoy the weekend.

Good morning! I'm not feeling too bad myself, but maybe because I haven't had work stress for a few days...
Looks like it may be sunny, but I haven't really looked too hard. Still working on my first cup of coffee, and just put popovers in the oven. Yum!

Popovers! I'll be right over. I'm getting tired of eating eggs...

Glad to hear you are feeling better, Roberta. Not being at work can have that effect. I'm starting to like not going in these past few weeks. Probably will go back on Tuesday, if everything stays on track.

Fed the girls and got two eggs so far. They've still been giving us full production. I've cut back on their balanced feed and added more scratch to keep them loaded on calories for the colder weather, and they still are cranking out those eggs. I'm happily surprised.

My girls are on strike! I have never had a molt quite as bad as this one, everyone looks awful! In the summer, it was like 3 dozen a day, now we're lucky to get 6 or 8. some days it's 2 or 3. Gaahh! I did find the rescue bird, Ethel, eating eggs about a month ago, but suddenly, she's laying herself!
And looks like maybe the reason she was eating them is her fat butt was breaking them. OMG she is huge. She is the fattest bird out there.
Her owner better come get her soon, before she explodes. At least she is earning her rent now.
Any news on Jack?
