Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Daddy put the babies to bed tonight! He was worried they wouldn't go into the coop, so when I got home from tutoring, he had herded the little ones inside and locked the door. "You're on your own", indeed!

The little boy who told me he hated me on my first day told me today that he was starting to like me. The little darling. Wait until after I speak to his mother!

I have to do all the report cards by tomorrow afternoon. It won't take too long - I don't have all their grades. Oh well.

Roberta, I hope you're feeling better.

Al, I'm pulling for Jack. The tough customers are always the ones who make the biggest impressions, right? It's like that with my students, too.

Thanks! I learned my lesson, and called in sick the rest of the week. HAH. Now if I could only get the house cleaned up, instead of sleeping.
Hope Jack is doing better.

Well, the news from the vet was not all that encouraging. The ultrasound did not show anything out of the ordinary. No damage from infection, no tumor and no stones. The vet said he did find Jack had high blood pressure and will treat him for that. He was not sure it would do much. He has no idea what the renal failure is from at this point. He is going to keep giving him fluids for another day or two and see what happens. We are hoping for the best as Jack is one tough dog and we will not give up on him. I told the vet to do what ever he needs to do. So, we wait.

Suzanne, a least they are starting to like you. Tell Bobby he's a teddy bear. On your own, huh?

Roberta, probably made sense to stay home the whole week. No reason to go back and relapse. Cleaning house, what's that? I'm getting chewed out on a daily basis for not up and painting the living room already.

I went today to the lab for the last of the blood and urine tests the rheumatologist wanted. Felt like cr*p yesterday and blew it off. One day won't matter as I don't see him again for 3 weeks.

The eyes are better but not perfect so I'm taking off the rest of the week too. I have the infectious disease Dr. appointment on Monday. Should be good to go by tuesday. Last year and this ear caused the two longest periods I've been out from work in my life. Going stir crazy, but getting a lot of needed rest.

I won't be taking time off from work any time soon. After what these kids have been through, they'd be traumatized if I didn't show up!

Good thing I get a few days off this month...

Just got power back! I'm so happy I could cry! Usually power outages are a snap for me because of the generator but that crapped out in the middle of the night Saturday. Hope you and your chickens all made it through the storm and are all warm and toasty now.

Wow, Caryn, that was along time to be without electricity. Glad you got it back, I saw all the trucks still running sound Putnam this morning too.

Funny thing, we were coming out of Home Depot this morning after picking up the electrical wiring for the coop. We were behind a pickup truck that had lumber and corrougated roof panels. My son and I said, hey, it looks like he's building a chicken run. Then I looked down at the the bumper and saw a "Chillin With My Peeps" bumper sticker. Didn't need to think any further...

Jack is abouT the same today. The vet said to give the blood pressure meds another day to work.

Good to hear you power is back on. You don't know what you got till it's gone. We were lucky. Our power went out at 2pm Sat. and was restored around 4:30 pm Mon. The propane company just finished about 20 min ago hooking up the tank to our generator. Now I'm ready for the next power outage.

Geez Louise!!
that is a terrible long time. I've been watching the news and a lot of NJ and NY folks are still without power. You have had a rough road! I am happ[y to hear ypoir back on.
